Research And Practice Of Using Illustration To Assist Emotional Release Of Alzheimer’s Disease Caregivers

With the improvement of life,aging population becomes more and more serious.Many elderly people in China choose home nursing,which leads many problems including more burden of caretakers.Since 1950 s,foreign researchers have focused on the burden of caretakers and the result shows that caretakers are subject to physical,psychological,social,and economic pressures.At present,people in China do not pay much attention to them,and they face enormous physical and mental pressure.Therefore,it is necessary to study how to release the caretakers’ emotions,ease their pressure,and give them humane care through illustration design.The potential problems brought about by the aging population in the contemporary society are the starting point of this article,exploring the illustrations as a communication bridge for the emotional release of Alzheimer’s caretakers.The emotional healing function of art therapy and the value system of illustration art influencing the group of caretakers are the theoretical basis of this article.This article also discusses how illustration design can soothe the caretaker’s emotions,heal their souls,and achieve the purpose of emotional release from the visual representation(color,graphics and composition)of illustration design.With the questionnaire of Alzheimer’s caretakers and the exploration of demands of the semi-structured interview,and taking illustration as the medium of expression,the "Universe in Memory" Alzheimer’s theme illustration series is created,combining a variety of visual expressions,illustration design,immersive H5 motion effect design,and fun Alzheimer’s caregiver emotional care manual for design and practice.Distinguished from traditional illustration design,it combines with new media for communication,and explores the feasibility of illustrations to assist the emotional release of Alzheimer’s caretakers.Finally,the creative achievements are applied by the illustration design plan for subsequent user’s feedback.It is found that the illustration design has a function to assist the caretaker’s emotional release to a certain extent.Research thinking of multidisciplinary integration and exploration of illustrations for caregivers to release their emotions and ease pressure should be the innovation of this article.From the perspective of humanistic care design,this article specifically puts forward the illustration design elements that assist the emotional release of caretakers with practical social significance,which also play a certain role for the reference of illustration design,humanistic care design,art therapy,and Alzheimer’s group care.
