| ObjectivesThe study was aim to investigate the serum CD146 level in a community middle-aged and elderly population in Fujian Province, and to explore the association of serum CD146 level with cardiovascular risk factors and the 10-year risk for coronary heart disease.MethodsA resident group of 836 subjects was selected for the cross-sectional survey from May 2016 to May 2017 in four communities in Fujian Province. All subjects completed the general data collection, physical examination, and related laboratory tests. The level of serum CD146 was detected by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. The Framingham risk score(FRS)was used for risk assessment. The soluble CD146 levels were Ln-transformed before analysis.One-way analysis of variance was used to compare the general clinical characteristics among different groups of serum CD146 level. The multiple linear regression analysis was applied to explore the correlation of serum CD146 level with blood pressure.Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship of serum CD146 with hypertension, diabetes and FRS.Results1.A total of 836 subjectswas included in this study, including 316 men and 520 women with the sex ratio of 1:1.65 and the average age of 63.2±10.6 years.A total of482 subjectshas hypertension(57.7%)and 109 subjects has diabetes(13.0%).2.The median value of serum CD146 was 134.22(106.14,179.03)ng/m L.With the increase of Ln(CD146)in quartile groups, the age was decreased while the total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)showed a trend of falling first and then rising(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in blood pressure and glucose among the four groups(P >0.05).3.Partial correlation analysis showed that after adjusting age,the serum CD146 level was negatively correlated with body mass index(BMI)(P<0.05).All subjects were then divided into normal blood pressure group, normal high blood pressure group and hypertension group.Partial correlation analysis showed that after adjusting age,the level of serum CD146 was negatively correlated with BMI and waist circumference only in the normal blood pressure group(P<0.05).4.Inthe high FRS,the level of serum CD146,blood pressure, total cholesterol and the prevalence of drinking and diabetes were higher, while the HDL-C was lowerthan those in the low FRS in non-hypertensive group(all P< 0.05).5.The binary logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratioof high FRS in the highest tertile of serum CD146 was 3.843(95%confidence interval: 1.517-9.736)in comparison with that in the lowest one(P<0.05)in non-hypertensive group.6.In patients treated with calcium channel blocker(CCB),angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI)or angiotensin receptor blocker(ARB),the levels of serum CD146 were lower than that in those patients treated with other drugs(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe median value of serum CD146 was 134.22(106.14,179.03)ng/m L in the community-dwelling middle-aged and elderly population. There was no correlation between serum CD146 and blood pressure, blood glucose, blood lipidin the general population. The level of serum CD146 was decreased with aging. It was negatively correlated with BMI and waist circumference in normal blood pressure group. In the non-hypertensive population, the serum CD146 showed the ability to identify the individuals with low-risk and high-risk of cardiovascular diseases. In patients treated with CCB,ACEI or ARB,the levels of serum CD146 were lower than that in those patients treated with other drugs, suggesting that the level of serum CD146 might be affected by antihypertensive drugs. |
