Research On The Effect Of Migrant Population’s Participation In Medical Insurance On Consumption Level In Shandong Province

After Chinese economic development enters the new normal,the economic growth rate slows down.In order to maintain a medium-high rate of economic growth,China must strengthen the fundamental role of consumption in economic development,and consider expanding domestic demand,especially consumer demand,as the main driving force for economic growth.As the backbone of urban labor force,the income level of the migrant population in the process of urbanization is gradually increasing.However,the consumption level of the floating population is relatively low and their consumption structure is unreasonable.According to the theory of Preventive Savings,social security system can eliminate people’s worries and promote consumption.The most widely covered one is medical insurance system.According to Precautionary Saving Theory,social security system can eliminate people’s worries and promote consumption.The most widely covered one is medical insurance.The life of the migrant population is unstable.Medical insurance plays an important role in reducing many health risks faced by the migrant population,and it is the most urgent guarantee demand for the migrant population.As for Shandong Province,the unique cultural background,geographical environment and economic development level determine that Shandong’s migrant population has its own characteristics,and the migrant population has made an important contribution to the economic development of Shandong.Shandong provincial government has always attached great importance to the protection of the rights and interests of the migrant population,especially the health care of the migrant population.Therefore,taking the migrant population in Shandong as the research object,exploring the impact of medical insurance on its consumption level will help to improve the health care level of the migrant population,promote the improvement of their consumption level,enhance their sense of belonging to Shandong Province,accelerate the process of the citizenization of the migrant population.Moreover,it is of great significance to promote the coordinated development of economy and society in Shandong Province.First of all,this study clarifies the economic background of China and the currentconsumption and medical insurance status of the migrant population,and then reviews relevant research at home and abroad.Secondly,this study defines and describes the three key concepts of medical insurance,migrant population and consumption level.At the same time,it expounds the relevant theoretical basis and analyzes the impact mechanism of medical insurance on consumption level.Third,using the data from Shandong Province in the 2014-2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey data to describe the relevant situation of the migrant population in Shandong.Fourth,using the 2017 migrant population data in Shandong Province,this study uses the two-stage least square method to empirically analyze the impact of whether to participate in medical insurance on the consumption level of migrant population in Shandong Province.Correlative analysis is also made on group differences,different types of insurance,and different insurance areas.Finally,summarize the research conclusions and propose countermeasures.The results show that: First,participating in medical insurance can promote the increase of the consumption level of Shandong’s migrant population.This result has good robustness.Second,there are group differences in the impact of medical insurance on the consumption level of Shandong’s migrant population.Third,Participation in medical insurance with a higher level of protection has a greater promotion effect on the consumption level of Shandong’s migrant population.Fourth,local participation in the inflow area can significantly increase the consumption level of the migrant population.In order to improve the health care situation and the consumption level of Shandong’s migrant population,this study puts forward the following suggestions: First,improve the awareness of the migrant population.Second,promote the overall level of medical insurance and the integration of insurance types.Third,develop commercial medical insurance.Forth,ensure employment and increase investment in human capital to promote the sustainable growth of migrants’ income.Fifth,increase the sense of urban integration of the migrant population,including promoting reform of the household registration system and equalization of public services.
