Objective:Obtain the macular vessel density of primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG)patients by optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),compare the difference in vessel density between POAG and healthy participants. To evaluate the association between macular vessel density and 24-2 and 10-2 Visual Field(VF),macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness(m GCIPLT),circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness(cp RNFLT)in healthy participants and POAG patients.Diagnostic efficacy of OCTA on POAG was analyzed. Methods:A total of 43 eyes from 23 POAG patients,20 healthy participants from our glaucoma specialist clinic and general clinic from September 1,2019 to February 29,2020 were selected. All participants underwent a comprehensive ophthalmological examination, including registration of related medical history, general vision, corrected vision, slit lamp biomicroscopy, anterior chamber gonioscopy,Goldmann applanation tonometer to measure intraocular pressure(IOP),direct fundus examination, central corneal thickness(CCT)measurement, fundus photography,m GCIPLT and cp RNFLT parameters were measured using Cirrus High-definition Optical Coherence Tomography(Cirrus-HD OCT)and 24-2,10-2 VF testing using a Humphrey field analyzer. The independent sample U test was used to compare the difference in vessel density between POAG and healthy participants.Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between vessel density and other eye structure, function parameters. The receiver operator characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn and the area under the ROC curve(AUC)was calculated to analyze the diagnostic efficacy of OCTA vessel density on POAG.The difference was statistically significant at P <0.05.All data were statistically analyzed using statistical software(SPSS 24.0).Results:1.The vessel skeleton density(VSD),vessel area density(VAD)of superficial retina in macula,VF,m GCIPLT and cp RNFLT parameters of POAG patients were significantly lower than healthy participants. The cup to disc ratio(C / D)of POAG patients was higher than that healthy participants.2.The outer layer,whole-image VSD and VAD were correlated with 24-2 MD VF,m GCIPLT,cp RNFLT,C/D.In addition, macular VSD and VAD were significantly correlated with 10-2 VF.3.The whole-image VSD’s ability to diagnose POAG is higher than other vessel density parameters. The above results were determined after adjusting for potential factors. Conclusions:The loss of macular vessel density in POAG was correlated with other structural and functional impairments.Macular vessel density will provide a new approach for the diagnosis and monitoring of POAG.
