Background:nursing combinates science and arts, forcus on caring. However,in reality, nurses are often restricted by internal and external constraints, and they are unable to take measures in line with their own beliefs and values, resulting in a kind of frustrated and powerless negative emotional experience, which is called moral distress. In pediatrics, considering the autonomy and best interests of the children, the situation that causes moral distress of nurses is more complex. However, currently there are few studies focusing on the moral distress of pediatric nurses, and have not been carried out in China. Therefore,it is necessary to have some measurement tools and thus provide fundamental research for follow-up studies. Objective:to translate the Revised Moral Distress Scale for pediatric nurses and examine the psychometric properties of the scale. Methods:the cross-cultural adaption guide of Beaton was used to translate the scale.By means of convenience sampling, online questionnaires were distributed to pediatric nurses in 7 hospitals in Beijing,Hebei and Liaoning to evaluate the quality of the scale from three aspects:item analysis, validity and reliability. Results:the content validity index(S-CVI)of the scale was 0.90,and the content validity index(I-CVI)of each item was 0.80-1.00.Three factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the contribution rate of cumulative variance was 60.04%.Cronbach ’α coefficient was 0.92,the half-fold reliability coefficient was 0.87,and the retest reliability was 0.91.Conclusion:the Revised Moral Distress Scale for pediatric nurses contains 19 items and has good psychometric properties, which can effectively measure the level of pediatric nurses’ moral distress.
