| Objectives:To explore the characteristics of non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI)in adolescents with depression and its relationship with life events, personality traits and emotional symptoms. The study attempts to construct a structural equation model of the relationship between life event, personality traits, emotional symptoms and NSSI in adolescents with depression. Methods:A total of 231 adolescents with depression were enrolled in this study. The Adolescent Self-injury Questionnaire was used to assess non-suicidal self-injury behaviors of the participants and then to divide them into two groups(with NSSI or without NSSI).The suicidal idea of the participants in the group with NSSI was assessed by the Self-Rating Idea of Suicide Scale and the participants were divided into two groups accordingly(with suicidal ideation or without suicidal ideation). The information of each group were collected by self-compiled general information questionnaire, the Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List, the Eysenck’s Personality Questionnaire, the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale and the Self-Rating Depression Scale. The data were analyzed by SPSS 26.0 software. We also construct a structural equation model to explore the relationship between these variables and their effects on NSSI by AMOS23.0 software.Results:1.The NSSI reporting rate was 84.4%among 231 participants. The proportion of NSSI group with suicidal ideation was 88.2%.The rate of boys was higher significantly than that of girls(p<0.05).The average age of the group with NSSI was lower than the group without NSSI(p<0.05).2.The results showed that the scores of nervousness, psychoticism, anxiety, depression, interpersonal factors, learning stress factors, punishment factors, health adjustment factors, other factors, and total life events of the NSSI group were higher significantly than the group without NSSI,and the scores of extroversion of the NSSI group was lower significantly than group without NSSI(p<0.05).In the total sample,NSSI was positively and significantly correlated with nervousness, psychoticism, anxiety, depression, interpersonal factors, learning stress factors, punishment factors, health adjustment factors and other factors, and negatively and significantly correlated with extroversion.3.In NSSI group, the scores of psychoticism, anxiety, depression, interpersonal factors, learning stress factors, other factors, and total life events of the group with suicidal ideation were higher than the group without suicidal ideation.and the scores of extroversion of the group with suicidal ideation were lower than the group without suicidal ideation. All of the differences were statistically significant.4.We Took life events as exogenous variable, and personality traits, emotional symptoms and NSS1 as endogenous variables, the final results showed that the model fit well,χ2/df=1.421,RMSEA=0.047,AGFI=0.903,GFI=0.934,NFI=0.908,IFI=0.971,CFI=0.970.Both of life events and emotional symptoms had direct effects on NSSI,The standardized factor loadings were 0.28 and 0.41,respectively.Personality traits could affect NSSI through emotional symptoms, and played a complete mediating role between life events and emotional symptomsConclusions:1.The reporting rate of NSSI behavior in adolescents with depression disorder was high. Most of depressed adolescents with NSSI behaviors have suicidal ideation. The female adolescents with depression were easier to have NSSI behaviors than the males. The average age of depressed adolescents with NSSI behaviors was lower than that in non-NSSI behaviors.2.Compared with depressed adolescents without NSSI behaviors, those with NSSI behaviors had lower scores of extroversion, higher scores of neuroticism, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship, learning stress, punishment, health adjustment and other factors, and higher total scores of life events3.Among the depressed adolescents with NSSI behaviors, compared with those without suicidal ideation, those with suicidal ideation had higher scores of neuroticism, anxiety, depression, interpersonal factors, learning stress factors, other factors and total life events, while extroversion scores were lower.4.Life event and emotional symptoms can directly affect the NSSI behavior of adolescents with depression disorder.Personality traits could not affect NSSI,personality traits did not have direct effects on NSSI,but could affect NSSI through emotional symptoms as total mediators.Life events could affect emotional symptoms through personality traits as total mediators. |
