Objective:To explore the relationship between paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and growth differentiation factor-15(GDF-15)alone and in combination with other inflammatory markers by detecting the level of GDF-15 in peripheral blood of patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Methods: 49 patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation admitted in the Department of Cardiology, people’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region from November 2019 to April 2020 were selected as atrial fibrillation group, including 27 males and 22 females, aged from 35 to 79(62.65±13.74).Another 39 patients with sinus rhythm matched with the general data of atrial fibrillation group were selected as the control group. There were 19 males and 20 females, aged from 45 to 82(54.67 ±14.05)years.The general data were collected, the blood routine and GDF-15 were tested, and the indexes of cardiac color ultrasound were determined. Results: There were significant differences in left atrial diameter(LAD),white bloos cell(WBC),neutrophil(N),platelet distribution width(PDW),neutrophil lymphocyte ratio(NLR),red blood cell distribution width(RDW)and GDF-15 between atrial fibrillation group and non-atrial fibrillation group. There was no correlation between GDF-15 and WBC,RDW,NLR and C-reactive protein(CRP).LAD was positively correlated with GDF-15,RWD,PDW and NLR.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that GDF-15,RDW and LAD were independent risk factors for atrial fibrillation. Conclusion:The increase of GDF-15 level is related to the occurrence and maintenance of non-valvular paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.GDF-15 is an independent risk factor for non-valvular paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
