| ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Taichi training on the rehabilitation of knee joint function after total knee arthroplasty(TKA),objectively evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Taichi training and provide a certain clinical evidence for traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation therapy after TKA.MethodsAll of the 60 cases were diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis and met the inclusion, hospitalized in the department of arthrology,Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during May to December 2020.All of them were divided into treatment group(30cases)and control group(30 cases)randomly according to the method of odd and even numbers generated by SPSS software.Control group was given the routine rehabilitation training(such as quadriceps isometric contraction training, knee motion training, straight leg raising training and walking training). The treatment group was given the routine rehabilitation training and squat training within 4 week after operation, and began professional Taichi training 4 weeks after TKA.The observation lasted for 12 weeks. The data of VAS score,KSS score,Biodex isokinetic muscle strength, knee range of motion(ROM),CRP and ESR level were recorded before operation,6 weeks after operation and 12 weeks after operation. All of the data were statistically analyzed and compared after treatment.ResultsThe data of VAS score,Knee ROM and KSS score of the two groups at the 6th week and 12 th week after TKA were significantly improved compared with those before TKA(P<0.05).The ESR level and the strength of knee extension and flexion muscles in both groups were significantly improved compared with those before TKA(P<0.05).Compared with preoperative and 12 weeks after TKA,the CRP level in the treatment group was significantly higher at the 6th week after TKA(P<0.05),while the CRP level in the control group was not significantly different at each time point(P>0.05).The improvement of VAS score and KSS score in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group at the 6th and 12 th week after TKA(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in knee ROM,ESR and CRP levels between the two groups at the 6th week and 12 th week after TKA(P>0.05).The improvement of strength of knee extension muscles in treatment group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in the improvement of strength of knee flexion muscles between two groups(P>0.05)at the 12 th week after TKA.ConclusionTaichi exercise has positive effect on the rehabilitation of knee joint function after TKA.It helps relieving pain of knee, improving function of knee movement and enhancing strength of knee flexion and extension muscles, especially the strength of extensors.Taichi exercise is safe and has few side effects in clinic, thus it’s worthy to be used in rehabilitation after TKA. |
