Objective:To observe the clinical effect of root surface coverage with coronal reposition flap and lateral transposition flap after epulis resection, and to provide reference for the selection of treatment methods for soft tissue defects after gingival tumor resection.METHODS:This retrospective study was conducted on patients who received surgical treatment for gingival tumor and underwent soft tissue repair with coronal reduction flap or lateral transposition flap in the Department of Periodontitis and Mucosal Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from September 2018 to December 2020.By referring to case records, periodontal size table and surgical photos, age, gender, probing depth, keratinized gingiva width, root surface coverage and visual analogue scale of pain were recorded. The data of patients were analyzed separately.RESULTS:A total of 30 patients were enrolled in this study, including 15 patients in the lateral transposition flap group and 15 patients in the coronal reduction flap group.Among them, the age was 35.24±12.17 years old,11 males and 19 females.1.The aesthetic scores of root surface coverage of coronal reposition flap and lateral transpotion flap were(7.9±1.3)and(8.2±0.9),respectively.The difference between the two was not statistically significant.2.Comparison of the depth of exploration between the two groups after surgery:the depth of exploration between the two groups decreased significantly before surgery,3 and 6 months after surgery, with statistical significance(P<0.05).3,two groups of Angle of gingival width comparison:after 1,3,6 months difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),in the two different operative methods has no statistical significance(P>0.05)between 4,the comparison of two groups of root surface coverage:1,3,6 months after difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),according to the root surface coverage gradually reducing pain 5,two groups of visual grading comparison:(3.86+0.86)and(4.20-0.21)points,results showed no statistical significance. Conclusion:Both laterally positioned flaps and coronally repositioned flaps can repair soft tissue defects after epulis resection, reduce the probing depth, increase the width of keratinized gingival, and improve the root surface coverage.Good clinical effect has been obtained.
