| ObjectiveTo observe the efficacy and safety of Chaishao Decoction in treating patients with age-related macular degeneration(AMD)retinal pigment epithelium detachment(PED).MethodsA total of 60 patients were enrolled in the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Eye Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from 2018 to 2020.According to the random number table method,all of the patients were stochastically divided into 2 parts,the therapy group and the comparison group,which consistes of 30 cases in each group.The comparison group was treated with vitamin antioxidants,vitamin C tablets 100mg Tid,vitamin E capsules 100mg Bid,beta-carotene capsules 6mg qd,zinc sulfate tablets 100mg Tid,and the treatment group was given Chaishao Decoction granules and vitamin antioxidants,Oral medication for 3 months,follow-up for 3 months,the evaluation indicators are the changes of pigment epithelium detachment volume,pigment epithelium detachment height,best corrected visual acuity during the treatment.Observe patients safety evaluation index during the period.Use SPSS26.0 statistical software for statistical analysis.Results1.Comparison of clinical efficacy:the efective rate of the treatment group was 70.37%,and the other group was 3.85%,with the statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.05).The therapeutic effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group.2.Comparison of visual acuity:There was no obvious difference between the two groups in the third month after treatment(P>0.05),while,statistical difference appeared in the sixth month after treatment(P<0.05).In the third and sixth months after treatment,the visual acuity of the therapy group improved to varying degrees,while the control group decreased significantly.Thus,the improvement of the visual acuity of the therapy group was better than that of the control group(P<0.01).3.Volume comparison:Compared with before treatment,pigment epithelium detachment volume in the therapy group decreased significantly after 3 and 6 months,while PED volume in the control group increased after 3 and 6 months.The pigment epithelium detachment volume of the therapy group was significantly better than that of the other group.Compared with before treatment,the pigment epithelium detachment volume in the therapy group increased after 6 months treatment,which was also notable significant(P<0.01).There was a statistical difference between the two groups after treatment(P<0.01).4.Height comparison:Compared with before treatment,pigment epithelium detachment height in the therapy group decreased significantly after 3 and 6 months,while pigment epithelium detachment height in the control group increased after 3 and 6 months,with the same statistical difference(P<0.01).5.Safety evaluation:During the treatment,there were no major adverse events related to the treatment.Conclusion1.Chaishao Decoction combined with Vitamin mineral preparations is effective in the treatment of AMD-PED stage,which can significantly reduce the lesion volume and height,improve the patient’s vision,delay the development of the disease course,truncating progress towards CNV and has clinical value and social benefits.2.Vitamin mineral preparations are not effective for AMD-PED stage,and they cannot effectively control the disease.3.Chaishao Decoction have no adverse reactions during the treatment,which is worth popularizing in clinical treatment. |
