ObjectiveTo investigate the current situation and the influential factors of frailty and t he quality of life to analyze the relationship between them so as to provide theo retical basis for clinical nursing intervention.MethodsTotally 228 elderly patients were selected from a tertiary hospital in Yantai from January to July in 2019 via convenience sampling method, and were investi gated by self-designed general information questionnaire, the Chinese TFI(Tilburg Frailty Indicator),the Short Form-12(SF-12)and the short form mini-nutritional a ssessment(MNA-SF).Using the SPSS 24.0 software to analyze the data.Descriptiv e analysis was made. The countable data was presented in frequency and percent age,and the measurement data was presented in standard deviation.Multi-factor re gression analysis were used to analyze the influential factors of the frailty and t he quality of life. The personal correction was used to analyze the relationship be tween the frailty and the quality of life.Multiple liner regression was used to ana lyze the relationship in each dimension of frailty and quality of life.Results1.A total of 125 elderly patients suffered from frailty and the prevalence w as 58.9%.The score of total frailty was(5.17±3.13),and the scores for each dime nsion were as follows:physical frailty(2.74±2.20),psychological frailty(1.61±1.23),an d social frailty(0.83±062).The highest rate of physical frailty were physical tiredn ess(48.1%),difficulty in maintaining balance(46.7%),difficulty in walking(43.4%),self-rated health(39.6%);The highest rate of psychological frailty were poor rec ollection(56.6%),low spirits(46.7%),anxiety(47.2%).The highest rate of social frai lty was the social relations(66.0%).Multi-factor regression analysis showed that ag e,sleep quality, coexistence, nutrition were the major influential factors(P<0.05).2.The score order for each dimension of the quality of life from high to low was as follows:mental health(72.17±22.03),role-emotional(71.82±27.43),vitalit y(62.26±26.61),body pain(60.61±37.69),social functioning(43.40±40.58),role-physical(42.57±37.20),physical functioning(40.31±38.68),general health(28.18±23.06).Compa red with non-frailty patients, frailty patients had poorer quality of life(P<0.05).M ultiple linear regression showed that sleep quality, coexistence, nutrition were the m ajor influential factors of the quality of life(P<0.05),age was the major influenti al factor of physical component summary of the quality of life(P<0.05).3.Regression analysis result showed a negative correlation between frailty and quality of life(P<0.05).The other words, the quality of life is closely related to frailty.Multiple linear regression showed that the items of TFI self-rated healt h,difficulty in walking, physical tiredness, poor recollection, poor coping capacity w ere statistically significant for quality of life both of physical and mental compo nent summary(P<0.05);and items of difficulty in maintaining balance and visual disturbance were statistically significant for quality of life physical component s ummary(P<0.05).The items of low grip strength, low spirits, anxiety, the social r elations and social support were statistically significant for the mental component summary(P<0.05).Conclusions1.The prevalence of frailty in elderly patients was at a high level, containing different degrees of physical, psychological and social frailty. The highest rates o f physical frailty were physical tiredness, difficulty in maintaining balance, difficu lty in walking,self-rated health; The highest rates of psychological frailty were p oor recollection, low spirits, anxiety; The highest rate of social frailty was the soc ial relations.Elderly patients with advanced age, sleep disorders,co-morbidity,and malnutrition are at higher risk for frailty.2.The quality of life of elderly patients with frailty is poorer.Elderly patients with sleep disorders,co-existence of multiple diseases and malnutrition have poorer quality of life, while those older patients have poorer physical health.3.The frailty of elderly patients in hospital is related to the quality of life. The more serious the problem of frailty, the worse the quality of life is.The items of TFI which were statistically significant for quality of life were self-rated health, difficulty in walking, physical tiredness, poor recollection, poor coping capacity, difficulty in maintaining balance, visual disturbance, low grip strength, low spirits, anxiety, the social relations and social support.4.Medical staff should attach great importance to the assessment of frailty among elderly patients, take targeted and holistic interventions timely to prevent or delay the development of frailty.
