| The health status of unemployed people,closely associated with not only personal life but also society’s development and stability.In order to learn about the health status of unemployed people in our country and relieve the negative effect of unemployment,this paper uses the data of China Family Panel Data(CFPS)in 2012,2014,2016,as well as 2018,Take 16-59 year old male working age population and 16-54 year old female working population as sample,adopting self-related health as a measure of health,using the econometric model from Ordered probit regression to Fix-effect model and propensity score matching method to explore the impact of unemployment on health.This study firstly analyzed the total effect of unemployment on health by using full sample.Furtherly,in order to identify the key populations affected by unemployment,this paper respectively conducts sub-regression of youth,prime-aged and middle-aged sample according their gender and registration to explore the gender difference and urban-rural difference.Through these empirical studies,this article draws the following conclusions:(1)On the whole,unemployment has a significant negative effect on health.Judging from the regression results of the overall sample,the Oprobit regression model,fixed effect regression model,and PSM regression results all show that unemployment can make the health condition worse,which shows that unemployment does indeed damage people’s health.(2)From the perspective of age difference,unemployment has the greatest negative impact on the health of middle-aged groups,followed by those of the prime-aged groups,and has no significant impact on the youth groups.(3)From the perspective of gender differences in the impact of unemployment on health among different age groups,unemployment has the greatest impact on the health of middleaged men.(4)From the perspective of urban-rural differences in the impact of unemployment on unemployment among different age groups,unemployment has a greater impact on the health of prime-aged and middle-aged urban residents.According to the empirical research results,in order to alleviate the negative impact of unemployment on health,this article puts forward the following policy recommendations from the aspects of promoting employment and promoting health: Firstly,establish employment counseling station to improve employability;Secondly,promote the overall development of urban and rural industries to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas;Thirdly,provide subsidies to the unemployed people;Lastly,establish an effective psychological counseling mechanism. |
