Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture in the treatment of axial symptoms of cervical spondylotic myelopathy after anterior cervical surgery, aiming at provide a new way of methods for the clinical treatment of axial symptoms. Methods:Fifty cases were included. In these 50 cases, patients have visited the spinal surgeon of our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 and have axial symptoms after spinal cord cervical spondylosis surgery.According to the Random Number table method and on the grounds of clinic time, these 50 cases were divided into two groups, treatment group and control group,25 cases respectively.Basic treatments, including postoperative routine rehabilitation exercise and oral painkillers(celecoxib),were given to both groups.Besides the basic therapies, the treatment group was treated with acupuncture, while the control group was treated with basic treatments.Patients were follow-up before the treatment and two weeks, four weeks, two months after the treatment.During the follow-up,following methods, including visual analogue Scale/Score(VAS)and cervical axial symptom score assessment of patients with axial pain, cervical range of motion(CROM)assessment of cervical functional improvement, cervical dysfunction index(NDI),were employed. The scores of above rating scale were collected and recorded through outpatient service, inpatient service and telephone follow-up.By outpatient, inpatient or telephone follow-up,we complete the above Score Scale scores collected and recorded, and then the clinical efficacies were evaluated. Results:This study included a total of 60 patients,follow-up time of 2 months, all patients were able to actively cooperate with the treatment and the successful completion of the study. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the General Data before treatment(P>0.05).The VAS scores and NDI index were significantly lower at the time of follow-up than before treatment. The VAS scores and NDI index decreased more significantly in the treatment group at 4 weeks and 2 months after treatment than in the control group(P<0.05).The activity of cervical vertebrae in all directions at each time point of follow-up was better than before treatment. At 4 weeks and 2 months after treatment, the treatment group was better than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).The decrease of the axial symptom score was more obvious(P<0.05)in the treatment group relative to the control group at the follow-up time point of 2 months after the start of treatment. Conclusion:Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for axial symptoms of cervical spondylotic myelopathy after anterior cervical surgery, which is conducive to improving the quality of life of patients after surgery, improving surgical satisfaction, and speeding up the functional rehabilitation of patients after surgery. It is worthy of our application and promotion.
