Research On The Treatment Of Mental Illness In The West Since Modern Times

Psychiatric Treatment refers to the methods and means of treating psychiatric disorders,it is an important part of psychiatry.Researching the history of Psychiatric Treatment aims at further supplementing and perfecting the development history of psychiatry,also promoting the psychiatry literacy and future development.At present,the Western historian have made many achievements in several fields of the history of psychiatry,but the research on the history of Psychiatric Treatment is relatively fragmented and lacks a comprehensive arrangement.In addition,research on the history of psychiatry in China also has a late start and few results.Most of those research results focus on the history of modern medical theory and the practice of common therapies in the medical field.Therefore,the history of Psychiatric Treatment has not been systematically studied in the domestic and foreign historians.Based on a variety of Western Psychiatric Treatment,this paper attempts to historicize scattered documents,focuses on their development after modern times,compares the therapies still in use in multiple dimensions in tabular form,and then better analyze their development and social value in today’s society.The whole paper is divided into 5 parts.The introduction part mainly introduces the basis of argumentation of the topic and the development status of the research on the history of Psychiatry and the history of Psychiatric Treatment,defines some concepts that need to be applied in the paper and introduces the research ideas and writing methods of this thesis.The second chapter,in chronological order,takes the Psychiatric Treatment as the protagonist,sorts out the history of the development and change of treatment methods for certified lunatic from prehistoric times to modern society,and attempts to restore the full picture of various treatment methods in the entire history of psychiatry.The third chapter of this paper focuses on the treatment itself.This chapter classifies the main treatments according to certain standards,sorts out the development history of each treatment method itself.The paper strives to objectively show the rise and fall of each treatment,and focuses on its development and changes after modern times.The forth chapter discusses the efficacy of the treatment currently in use.This chapter makes a simple comparison of the treatments from seven dimensions in the form of a table,analyzes the advantages and limitations of each treatment.Based on modern society,this chapter discusses the problems they are facing and the development trend of the Psychiatric Treatment in the future.The concluding part briefly summarizes the development process of Western Psychiatric Treatment.This part summarizes the common dilemmas by enumerating the various problems that existing therapies face in modern society.
