Evaluation Of The Cleanliness Of Volatile Oil Nanoemulsion From Chimonanthus Praecox As A Root Canal Irrigant

Objective:Evaluate the cleanliness efficiency of the root canal cleanup of the volatile oil nano emulsion flushing liquid and the eucalyptus oil nano emulsion,in order to provide a theoretical basis for the application of Chinese volatile oil and eucalyptus oil in root canal irrigation.Methods:50 single root canine premolars were selected.The distance between the root surface and the apex 0.5mm was recorded as the working length of the root canal.The length of the root canal was dredged to the working length by No.10 and 15 K files.The S3 nickel titanium file was prepared to 3S,and then manually prepared with30 and 35 K hand Ni-Ti files.The samples were randomly divided into 5 groups according to the rinsing fluid.Group A: volatile oil nano emulsion of Chimonanthus praecox;Group B: eucalyptus oil nanoemulsion;Group C: 1% sodium hypochlorite group;Group D: 3% sodium hypochlorite group;Group E: 0.9% sodium chloride group,five groups of different irrigating solutions were used to wash the extracted teeth.The volume of irrigating solution was 5ml.The root canals were washed continuously for 30 s with VDW EDDY sound wave.Finally,root canals were washed with 3 ml of 17% EDTA solution and 5 ml of normal saline in each group.The crowns were cut and the roots were split longitudinally,The percentage of debris and the number of dentinal tubule openings in the 1 / 3 area of the apical 、 middleand upper region were measured.Result:In the apical 1 / 3 area,the percentage of debris in Group E was significantly higher than that in the other four groups;The smear layer score of group E was significantly higher than that of the other four groups(P < 0.05),and there was no statistical difference between the other groups.In the middle 1 / 3 area of the root,the percentage of debris in Group E was significantly higher than that in the other four groups;The smear layer score of group E was significantly higher than that of the other four groups(P < 0.05),and there was no statistical difference between the other groups.In the upper 1 / 3 area of root,the percentage of debris in group B was significantly higher than that in group D,the score of smear layer in group B was significantly higher than that in groups C and D(P < 0.05),and the percentage of debris and smear layer score in groups a,C and D were significantly lower than those in group E.The cleanliness of the rinsing solution was as follows: 3% sodium hypochlorite group,1% sodium hypochlorite group,volatile oil nano emulsion group,eucalyptus oil nano emulsion group,and normal saline group.Conclusion:The volatile oil nano emulsion and eucalyptus oil nano emulsion can effectively remove smear layer and debris in root canal,and has the cleanliness of root canal.It is the two traditional Chinese medicine irrigation fluid which can be used for root canal irrigation.
