| Purpose:To evaluate the macular and circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness and vascular structural characteristics of the patients with unilateral pseudophakic children with deprivation amblyopia. Methods:To identify Twenty children with unilateral pseudophakic with deprivational amblyopia(observation group,20 amblyopia eyes of 20 patients;contralateral group,20contralateral eyes of 20 patients). The subjects were examined by Cirrus TMHD-OCT.The main thickness outcome measures were macular central subfield thickness, circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness, macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer thickness(m GCIPLT),and foveal pit depth thickness. The main blood vessel outcome measures were superficial capillary plexus vessel density, perfusion density and foveal avascular zone area and perimeter.Results:1.In the unilateral pseudophakic patients with deprivation amblyopia, macular central subfield thickness was 247.74±24.77μm,which were significantly more than those in the contralateral group. The minimum m GCIPLT,the superior m GCIPLT,the superonasal m GCIPLT,the inferonasal m GCIPLT,the superotemporal m GCIPLT in the observation group were 70.37±25.17μm,76.63±20.45μm,80.11±17.77μm,80.89±13.31μm,74.95±20.88μm,respectively,which were significantly less than those in the contralateral group(all P<0.04).2.In the unilateral pseudophakic patients with deprivation amblyopia, the macular VD of the central region, inner region, outer region, and complete region in the observation group were 6.17±3.02mm-1,14.73±3.23mm-1,15.84±2.72mm-1,15.21±2.62mm-1,respectively,which were significantly less than those in the contralateral group(all P<0.03).The macular PD of the central region, inner region, outer region, and complete region in the observation group were 0.13±0.06,0.34±0.08,0.39±0.07,0.37±0.07,respectively,which were significantly less than those in the contralateral group(all P<0.005).The circumpapillary VD of the central region and PD of central region were 5.84±4.36mm-1,0.15±0.12,which were significantly less than those in the contralateral group(all P<0.005).The FAZ area and FAZ perimeter were 0.19±0.11mm2and 1.76±0.57mm,respectively,significantly smaller than those in the contralateral group(all P<0.005).3.The best corrected visual acuity of deprivation amblyopia eyes was negatively correlated with the difference in the FAZ area and FAZ perimeter(r=-0.464,P=0.045;r=-0.548,P=0.015).Conclusions:In the children with unilateral pseudophakic with deprivation amblyopia, the macular central subfield thickness were significantly more than those in the contralateral group. The minimum m GCIPLT,the superior m GCIPLT,the superonasal m GCIPLT,the inferonasalm GCIPLT,the superotemporal m GCIPLT in the observation group were significantly less than those in the contralateral group. The macular vessels density of all region and the circumpapillary vessels density of central region were less than those in the contralateral group. The FAZ area and FAZ perimeter were smaller than those in the contralateral group. It suggests abnormal development of retinal thickness and blood flow system in unilateral pseudophakic with deprivational amblyopia. The difference in FAZ area and perimeter between deprivation amblyopic eyes and contralateral eyes increases with the severity of unilateral deprivation amblyopia. |
