A Trifunctional Contraceptive Gel Enhances The Safety And Quality Of Sexual Intercourse

ObjectiveTo explore the potential of contraceptive gel with drug active ingredients to ensure the safety and health of sex and to improve the quality of sex.Materials and MethodsIn this study,we fabricated a Carbomer-based contraceptive gel consisting of three agents: tenofovir,gossypol acetate,and nitroglycerin,with pH adjusted to 4.5(to be compatible with the vagina).(1)In vitro,the boar mirror was extracted and exposed to gels containing different concentrations of spermicides,and the efficiency of sperm inactivation was detected under the microscope.(2)Vaginal epithelial cell lines were selected and cultured in the culture medium with different concentrations of gel components.The lentivirus transfection experiment of green fluorescent protein was conducted,and the inhibition of virus transfection was detected under confocal microscope.(3)Six pairs of sexually mature SD rats were selected and the contraceptive gel was injected into the vagina of the rats before the same cage.A group of the same 6pairs of rats was added,and the rats using the current commercial contraceptive gel were used as the control group.(4)Twelve male rats were divided into the intervention group and the control group,and the behavioral changes of the rats coated with effective ingredient gel on the penis were observed to judge the effect of gel on promoting erection ability of the rats.Results(1)In vitro experiments showed that gossypol in the contraceptive gel was an effective spermicide.When gossypol acetate concentration is 10 mg/ m L,spermicidal ability can reach 100% after 30 s.(2)Tenofovir in the gel significantly inhibited the transfection efficiency of lentivirus in cell-containing medium.(3)In six pairs of rats,the gel successfully prevented conception in all the successful mating females.(4)Nitroglycerin in the ingredient was observed to promote increased sexual frequency and enhanced erection after the gel was applied to the penises of male rats.Conclusions(1)This new type of contraceptive gel has a higher success rate than commercial contraceptive gel.(2)This gel has a significant effect on inhibiting virus transfection efficiency in vitro cell experiments,indicating its potential to prevent viral sexually transmitted diseases.(3)Male rats treated with genitalia gel had animal behavior changes,which may be related to the local increase of blood flow in blood vessels,which may improve erectile function during sexual intercourse.
