Objective:To investigate the current situation and the relationship between smartphone addiction and depression among adults。To investigate smartphone use habits and preferences with different levels of depression.Methods:Send the questionnaires to 490 Chinese adults by convenience sampling method,and 474 valid questionnaires were collected.The measurement tools used included Smartphone Addiction Scale for Chinese Adults,mobile phone preference questionnaire,self-made general situation questionnaire,SDS and mobile phone use habit questionnaire.The age range of the subjects was(18-54)years old,age was(27.87±9.16),and there were 227 males(47.9%)and 247 females(52.1%).SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis andα=0.05.Results:The addiction rate among the 474 subjects was 45.4%.The proportion of subjects with mild depression or above was 29.5%.There were significant differences in the preferences of mobile phone use in shopping and instant messaging(F=2.823,P<0.05),social network and public BBS(F=3.128,P<0.05),and information service(F=4.731,P<0.05)among groups with different depression levels.There were differences in the time of mobile phone use(F=6.725,P<0.05),the last type of APP used before going to bed(Χ~2=44.585,P<0.05),the most common time period of smartphone use(Χ~2=19.610,P<0.05)and location(Χ~2=25.159,P<0.05)among different depression groups.The depression score of the addict group was significantly higher than that of the non-addict group(t=-5.057,P<0.05),the patients with mild depression or above in the addiction group(37.20%)were significantly higher than those in the non-addiction group(23.2%).It shows a positive correlation between addiction and depression.The link between smartphone addiction and depression can be modeled by a linear equation(β=0.305,P<0.05).Conclusion:Subjects with different degrees of depression show different characteristics in mobile phone use preference and mobile phone use habits.Individuals who meet the criteria of mobile phone addiction are at greater risk of depression than those who are not addicted.Depression was significantly associated with mobile phone addiction.Depression was significantly associated with mobile phone addiction.After controlling for income level,education level,stress level,interpersonal relationship and other factors,mobile phone addiction score has a positive effect on the estimation of depression.
