Objective:Liver cirrhosis(LC)has always been a global health problem, and If it is not actively treated and developed to a later stage,it will greatly affect the patient’s quality of life and survival rate. Many studies have found that plasma homocysteine(Hcy)is related to LC.In this paper, the correlation between plasma Hcy level and LC and its severity was analyzed through systematic review of relevant literatures,so as to provide a new idea for the treatment and prognosis of LC patients. Methods:The literatures related to homocysteine and liver cirrhosis in Cochrane Library,Pub Med,Embase,Wanfang,VIP and CNKI are searched by computer. The language range is Chinese and English, and the retrieval time is up to February 2021.Through strict inclusion and exclusion criteria and using Newcastle-Ottawa Scale(NOS)to evaluate the quality of literatures,high-quality literatures are screened for data extraction and collation, and Rev Man 5.4 software is used to analyze the data. Results:Participants included 12 articles, analysis of the data found in LC group plasma Hcy levels compared with control group, the LC group increased significantly, both statistical differences(SMD=1.44,95%CI:1.07~1.81,P<0.00001).Heterogeneity index showed that I~2=89%,P<0.00001.After subgroup analysis,it was found that the area, age and Hcy detection method of the research subjects might be the influencing factors for the differences in Hcy levels among the studies. On by its nine of the references to the plasma Hcy concentration and severity of the LC analysis and results show that there was a statistically significant difference in the plasma Hcy level of Child B and Child A(SMD=0.66,95%CI:0.33-0.99,P<0.0001),the Child C level compared with the Child class B plasma Hcy levels as well(SMD=1.09,95%CI:0.48-1.70,P=0.0005).The plasma Hcy level is closely related to the Child grade of cirrhosis, and with the decline of liver function and the aggravation of the disease, the plasma Hcy concentration increases. Conclusion:After analysis,it was found that the Hcy concentration in LC patients increased, and the level of Hcy concentration was related to the severity of the disease in patients with LC.The elevated degree of Hcy had certain diagnostic value on the severity of the disease of LC,and early intervention might improve the prognosis of patients with LC.
