Objective Medicinal ink not only has the function of painting and calligraphy, but also has precious medicinal value. It has a long history as a traditional Chinese medicine with unique oriental characteristics. The hemostatic effect of medicinal ink is widely used in clinic practice, but many other effects are ignored.Based on this, this project selects the ancient literature of the study of medicinal ink, systematically sorted out the historical herbals, prescriptions and other related literatureon the discussion of medicinal ink, then analysis and discussion the development process of its medicinal use from the formation of ink,and clear the nature and taste of medicinal ink to meridian, efficacy,to provide a reliable theoretical basis for clinical application of medicinal ink.methodsThe author uses the methods of Chinese medical literature and modern statistical, with the ‘ink’ as the key word, takes the Chinese medical dictionary and traditional Chinese medicine prescription dictionary as the main source, retrieve the name, taste, classics, effect, treatment, etc, and reference to medicinal ink literature, natural ink is not included in the retrieval scope of ink, establish a database containing ink prescription, and summarize the development history of medicinal ink, analyze the medicinal nature and clinical application characteristics of medicinal ink.results(1)The name and types of medicinal ink : there are 289 records about the name of medicinal ink in the ancient literature, including ink of Beijing(123),Xiangmo(108),Songyan ink(25),Jinmo(12),songmo(5),Chuanmo(4),Huimo(4),Guangmo(3),Youyan ink(2),Yimo(1),Shemo(1),Songyan fine ink(1),a total of 11 kinds of medicinal ink The types of medicinal ink can be divided into pine smoke ink and oil smoke ink.(2)There are 22 records about the nature of medicinal ink:among them,19(86.4%)think that medicinal ink is warm in nature,2(9.1%)think that medicinal ink is cool in nature, and 1(4.5%)think that medicinal ink is flat in nature. The 29 records of ‘ink taste’ in the past dynasties are all based on ‘Xin’ taste. In the Qing Dynasty,Huang Gongxiu’s ‘Herbal Quest for Authenticity’ first proposed the passage of medicinal ink to the meridian. There were three records on the passage of medicinal ink to the meridian in the Qing Dynasty, including of three liver meridians, one heart meridians, one kidney meridians and one lung meridians.(3)Efficacy and application of medicinal ink:The earliest extant herbal literature recording the efficacy of medicinal ink is Kaibao materia medica compiled by Liu Han and Ma Zhi of Song Dynasty. From the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, there were32 herbal literatures recording the efficacy of medicinal ink.According to the frequency of occurrence, the most common ones were stopping blood(31),spotting things into the eyes(23),astringing sores and generating muscles(19),promoting blood stasis(16),detoxifying and detumescence(14),tranquilizing and calming the heart(10),and promoting urination(3).The earliest application of medicinal ink in clinical treatment is Gehong’s elbow emergency prescription in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. From the Wei Jin to the Qing Dynasty,a total of 450 ink containing prescriptions were collected in 129 prescriptions, including 27 single prescriptions and 423 compound prescriptions. The indications of these prescriptions involved 54 kinds of diseases, the most common were blood syndrome(66,14.6%),wind disease(56,12.4%),accumulation(48,10.6%),postpartum disease(45,10.0%),infantile convulsion(40,8.9%),sore(33,7.3%)%)etc.Conclusion(1)The artificial ink production in China appeared in the Western Zhou Dynasty to the pre Qin period.Only in the Eastern Jin Dynasty did there be records about the treatment of diseases by ink.Until the Song Dynasty,it was the peak period of the development of medicinal ink. After the development of Jin Yuan, the medicinal ink in Ming and Qing Dynasties gradually rose. There are two kinds of medicinal ink in the past dynasties, namely pine smoke ink and oil smoke ink, mainly pine smoke ink,and most of them are Beijing ink and fragrant ink.(2)The ‘warmth of nature’ of medicinal ink is a general understanding of medical practioners in the past dynasties. There are records about ‘coll nature’ and ‘flat nature’in this literature. Its theory may be related to the diseases used, the raw materials and processing methods of ink making. The ancient literature records the return of medicinal ink as the heart, liver, lung and kidney meridian.Ink plays a certain role in the treatment of heart, liver, lung and kidney related diseases.(3)The effect of medicinal ink is mainly due to the smoke, glue and added ingredients used in the ink making. Its action principle is mainly related to the coagulation promoting effect of carbon and glue in the ink and the function of the ingredients themselves. As a medicine, medicinal ink is mainly due to its ‘hemostasis’ function. In addition, medicinal ink also has the functions of blood stasis, collecting sore and generating muscle, detoxifying and swelling, clearing heat and relieving shock.Ancient Chinese ink is often used in the treatment of blood syndrome, wind disease, accumulation, postpartum disease, children’s convulsion, sores and other diseases.According to the dosage of ink in the prescription, medicinal ink plays an important role in the treatment of blood syndrome and sores.(4)The year far and smoke fine forger ink that medicine is the most ancient physicians understanding of medicinal ink,but also have a small amount of literature shows that the ancients ink used in the clinical treatment of lampblack, and part of modern Chinese medicine standards and the processing specifications of Chinese herbal medicine, the use of tung oil smoke is also a common problem.Only from the structure of the oil smoke ink,it has reached the standard of drug administration, but more pharmacological research is needed to support it.
