Research On Translation Of Instructions For Chinese Patent Medicine Under PE+MT+CAT+PE Translation Model

With the development of traditional Chinese medicine as a national strategy,the traditional Chinese medicine industry has gradually expanded overseas,and the export of Chinese patent medicines has also expanded further.Therefore,the English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions has been paid more attention from domestic scholars.However,most researches focus on the application of translation theory and the proposal of translation strategies,and seldom combine the English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions with the application of technical means,such as machine translation and computer-aided translation.Therefore,the thesis applies the "PE + MT + CAT + PE" translation model to the English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions,explores the feasibility of this model in the English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions,and tries to propose corresponding strategies of pre-editing and post-editing,providing reference information for the follow-up study on English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions.This thesis is mainly divided into six parts.The first part gives a brief introduction to this translation research from four aspects: the background of the project,the research purpose and significance,the research objects and methods,and the basic framework of the thesis.In the second part,the research status of English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions and the application status of computer-aided translation technology are summarized.The third part mainly introduces the basic overview of the source language text,including the reasons for selection,medical connotation and language features.The fourth part focuses on the "PE+MT+CAT+PE" translation model applied in this translation practice,and provides a detailed interpretation of the concept on Pre-editing,Machine Translation,Computer-aided Translation,and Post-editing respectively.The fifth part is a detailed description of the translation practice process,including stages of preparation,practice and post-editing.Combined with the analysis of cases in the practice process,the corresponding strategies of pre-editing and post-editing are put forward.The last part is the conclusion of the thesis,which is mainly the reflection and deficiency of this research.It is found that the translation model of "PE+MT+CAT+PE" is feasible in English translation of Chinese patent medicine instructions.The quality of translation can be improved through adjusting the Indications part to a fixed format,adding missing components of sentences,and adjusting the word order during pre-editing stage.During post-editing stage,integrating the content of target language text by using prepositions flexibly,and translating terminology with no corresponding English translation literally,are the guarantee of the simplicity and logicality of target language text language style.
