| OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between serum cortisol levels and threatened labor / in labor, through the comparison of the levels of serum cortisol in full-term pregnant women under different states of labor.METHODS A point-of-care testing platform(quantum-dot immunochromatography)was used to measure the serum cortisol concentration of the participants. The control group was consisted of nonpregnant women of childbearing age, whereas the other three test groups including full-term pregnant women without labor(waiting labor group),full-term pregnant women with threatened labor(threatened labor group)and full-term pregnant women in labor(in labor group).RESULTS Compared with the control group(7.83 ±4.78ug/d L),the levels of serum cortisol in waiting labor group(17.7 ±3.75ug/d L)and threatened labor group(18.13 ±4.06ug/d L)were significantly higher(p<0.05);but there was no significant difference between waiting labor group and threatened labor group.Compared with the threatened labor group, the serum cortisol(46.45 ±13.51ug/d L)in labor group was significantly higher(P < 0.05).When the concentration of serum cortisol in pregnant women with threatened labor symptoms was > 25.415ug/d L,the specificity of judging the real labor initiation was 90%,and the sensitivity was 96.7%.CONCLUSION The level of serum cortisol in waiting labor group was significantly higher than control group. There was no significant difference between waiting labor group and threatened labor group in serum cortisol, but the serum cortisol increased rapidly after in labor.Serum cortisol cortisol is expected to be a rapid diagnostic index for labor. |
