Objective: To study the chemical constituents of the aerial parts of Clematis chinensis Osbeck, and to investigate the in vitro anti-tumor activity of phenylpropanoids and terpenoids in the aerial part of Clematis chinensis Osbeck. Methods: This experiment uses silica gel,ODS,Sephadex LH-20 and MCI column chromatography to systematically separate the chemical components of the n-butanol extraction part of its ethanol extract, combined with high-performance liquid chromatography analysis and purification,as well as the NMR,MS,UV and other nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy used to determine the chemical structures of the compounds. The cytotoxicity of the separated phenylpropanoids and terpenoids to HeLa,Ishikawa and MGC-803 are determined by the MTT method. Results: Finally determined the chemical structure of 65 compounds, including thirty phenylpropanoids, eighteen terpenoids, five aromatic glycosides, four alkaloids, three flavonoids, three glycosides and two other compounds.Among them,1~5 are new compounds, and 22,28,30,31,34~36,38~42,44~49,51~53,55~56,63~64 are isolated from Ranunculaceae for the first time.33 and 62 were isolated from the genus Clematis for the first time, and 6~7,10,13,18~21,23~27,29,37,43,50,57~61 and 65 were the first from Clematis chinensis Osbeck.Among the phenylpropanoid compounds,6,7,8,9 showed weak cytotoxicity to Ishikawa cells, but no cytotoxicity to HeLa and MGC-803 cells.Among terpenoids 40,41,42,47 and 48 have an obvious toxic activity to Ishikawa and MGC-803.Conclusion: This experiment conducted a systematic and in-depth separation of the chemical components of the n-butanol in the aerial part of Clematis chinensis Osbeck. The above research results provide an experimental basis for the further developing and utilizating the aerial part of Clematis chinensis Osbeck, and at the same time for the full utilization and expansion of medicinal plant resources provide important scientific basis.
