Objective:This study is based on the theory of The model of pathways to treatment to investigate the situation of medical treatment of OSAHS patients,to explore the associated influencing factors of patient delay,to analysis the correlation between the factors and patient delay, which can be used as the basisfor improving the situation of OSAHS patients on health seeking behaviour. Methods:Quantitative and qualitative design were combined to study the delay on health seeking behavour of 135 OSAHS patients in general hospital of shenyang.Based on great number of associated domestic and foreign literature on the delay in seeking medical behavour of patients with OSAHS,semi-structured interview outline was designed to conduct face-to-face interviews. The designed questionnaire was composed of three parts, which were general demographic information、disease related information and the situation of OSAHS patients on health seeking behaviour. The original data was entered by Epi Data3.1 and then imported into SPSS23.0 for data analysis.Quanlitative data was analysised by content analysis.Quantitative data was described by the mean, standard deviation, median, percentile in order to represent the current situation of OSAHS patients on health seeking behaviour.Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used to explore the influence of demographic data and disease-related data on medical delay.Multiple linear regression analysis was to analyze the influencing factors of medical treatment delay.Pearson correlation analysis was employed to determine the correlation between medical treatment delay time and complications.Conclutions:1.Current status of delay in seeking medical attention for OSAHS patients.A total of 135 subjects were included in the survey. The shortest interval between the first discovery of snoring symptoms and the first medical treatment due to the symptom was0.5 years, the longest medical delay interval was 50 years, and the median time was 10 years. All patients had medical delays. The rate of medical treatment was relatively serious.Among them,19 patients chosed CPAP treatment after diagnosis, the shortest treatment delay was 0 days and the longest 61 days;39 patients underwent ENT surgery after diagnosis, the shortest treatment delay was 0 days and the longest 99 Day;3 patients received glossopharyngeal muscle training, and the shortest treatment delay was 3 days and the longest was 90 days.2.Analysis of factors affecting OSAHS patients’ delay in seeking medical behaviour Univariate analysis showed that age, household registration, family history, frequency of snoring, pain in the precordial area, and waking up during sleep had statistically significant effects on the delay time of medical treatment(P<0.05).The results of multivariate regression analysis showed that age, family history, ignorance of ventilator treatment of OSAHS,precordial pain, waking up during sleep, and junior high school education were the influencing factors of the delay time for medical treatment(P<0.05).3.Correlation analysis between delay time for medical treatment and complications in OSAHS patientsPearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between medical treatment delay time and complications. The results showed that the correlation between medical treatment delay time and heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetes was statistically significant(P<0.05),and there was a positive correlation, indicating the longer medical delay, the higher the chance of complications.
