Objective: this study aimed to evaluate the preoperative pain sensitivity in colorectal cancer patients and investigate the impact of bio-psycho-social factors on the preoperative pain sensitivity in colorectal cancer patients. To provide evidence for potential interventions of influence factors in colorectal cancer patients with preoperative pain. Methods: A total of 437 preoperative colorectal cancer patients were enrolled in the Anorectal Surgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University.preoperative pain intensity was measured using Wong-Baker FACES pain Rating scale(WBF),they were divided into 3 groups according their WBF scores:no-pain group,mild-pain group and moderate or severe-pain group.General demographic information and clinical data were collected by using self-made questionnaire.Self-esteem,social support, sleep quality, anxiety and depression was assessed via Rosenberg self-esteem scale(SES),Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),Athens Insomia Scale(AIS),Hamilton Depression Sale(HAMD-24),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA).Bio-psycho-social factors of three groups were compared by ANOVA or chi-square test.Factors with P < 0.05 were included in the multivariate analysis for further study, and the multivariate factors were analyzed by ordered logistic regression.Result: Univariate analysis showed that significant differences were founded in marital status,Self-esteem,social support, sleep quality, anxiety and depression between three groups(P<0.05).Preoperative pain intensity of colorectal cancer patients was not related to gender, income, medical insurance type, education level, age, perineural invasion, blood vessel invasion, invasion depth, gross pathological classification of tumor and TNM stage(P>0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that marital status, social support and anxiety were independent influencing factors of preoperative pain intensity in patients with colorectal cancer(P< 0.05).Conclusion: Marital status, social support and anxiety are influencing factors of preoperative pain intensity in patients with colorectal cancer. The level of anxiety was positively correlated with the preoperative pain intensity, and the higher the level of anxiety, the more intensity of the preoperative pain in colorectal cancer patients.Unmarried, divorced, widowed patients are less likely to have mild, moderate or severe pain than married or remarried patients.Patients with moderate level of social support are more likely to have mild, moderate or severe pain than patients with high level of social support.
