| Objective:Glaucoma is the first irreversible cause of blindness in the world.It is characterized by visual field defect and optic nerve atrophy.Primary angle-closure glaucoma is a common type of glaucoma.Primary Angle-closure glaucoma(PACG)is classified into Primary acute angle-closure glaucoma(PAACG)and Primary chronic angle-closure glaucoma(PCACG)according to whether the IOP occurs suddenly or develops gradually.The pathogenesis of PCACG is still not completely clear.Currently,there are generally accepted theories of mechanism and ischemia.But now more and more studies tend to neurovascular,endocrine factors,and other molecular biological directions,and the detection of trace elements in aqueous humor seems to be a new focus of current research.We detected the trace elements content in aqueous humor of patients with PCACG,analyzed the change of trace elements content,explored the relationship between the change of trace elements content in aqueous humor and PCACG,and provided certain clinical basis for further understanding the pathological injury mechanism of PCACG.Methods:Aqueous humor samples were collected from PCACG patients in glaucoma department and senile cataract patients in cataract department of the Second Hospital of Jilin University.According to the exclusion criteria,34 aqueous humor samples from PCACG patients(experimental group)and 28 aqueous humor samples from senile cataract patients(control group)were selected for experimental study,altogether 62 samples from the two groups.The concentrations of trace elements in aqueous humor were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),and the contents of trace elements in two groups were tested by two-sample T-test to analyze whether there were differences in the expression of trace elements in aqueous humor samples of two groups.Then,the correlation between trace elements in aqueous humor and Visual field Indices(VFI)was investigated by describing scatter plot.The correlation between trace elements in aqueous humor and affected eyes was investigated by experimental group.Results:In this study,eight trace elements including boron(B),magnesium(Mg),potassium(K),calcium(Ca),iron(Fe),copper(Cu),zinc(Zn),and selenium(Se)were detected in the samples.Compared with the senile cataract patients,the contents of Mg,K,Ca,Fe,Cu,and Se in the aqueous humor of PCACG patients was increased,while the content of B was decreased,there was no difference in Zn content.In the PCACG group,there was no significant correlation between trace elements in aqueous humor and the degree of visual field damage and different eyes.Conclusion:Compared with patients with senile cataract,the contents of Mg,K,Ca,Fe,Cu and Se in the aqueous humor of PCACG patients increased,while the contents of B decreased,while the contents of Zn showed no difference.The differential expression of trace elements obtained in this study is helpful to further understanding the pathological injury mechanism of PCACG. |
