Objective:To investigate the efficacy, treatment times and adverse reactions of intratumoral radiofrequency ablation combined with polidocanol foam sclerosing agent in the treatment of oral and maxillofacial low-flow venous malformations, then provide some references for the selection of clinical treatment methods.Data and Methods:To retrospectively study the curative effect, treatment times and adverse reactions of 69 patients with oral and maxillofacial low-flow venous malformations admitted to the Department of Stomatology of Xuzhou Central Hospital from May 2019 to May 2021.According to different treatment methods, they were divided into three groups:sclerotherapy group(25 cases):treated with podocanol foam sclerotherapy injection;radiofrequency group(21 cases):radiofrequency ablation;combined group(23 cases):intratumoral treatment radiofrequency ablation combined with podocanol foam sclerotherapy injection.Results:1.Treatment effect:There were differences in the cure rate and effective rate among the three groups(χ2=6.460,χ2=9.518,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant. The cure rate of the combined group(82.61%)was higher than that of the radiofrequency group(47.62%,χ2=5.981,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant;the comparison between the sclerosis group, the radiofrequency group and the combined group(χ2=2.848,χ2=0.763,P>0.05),the difference was not statistically significant. The effective rates of the sclerosis group and the combined group(92.00%,95.65%)were higher than those of the radiofrequency group(61.90%,χ2=6.076,χ2=7.684,P<0.05),the difference was statistically significant;between the sclerosis group and the combined group(χ2=0.273,P>0.05),the difference was not statistically significant. There was a significant difference in the effective rate of the first treatment among the three groups(χ2=16.118,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant. The first treatment effective rate(78.26%)of the combined group was better than that of the sclerotherapy group and the radiofrequency group(40.00%,19.05%,χ2=7.215,χ2=15.395,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant;there was no significant difference in the first treatment effective rate between the sclerotherapy group and the radiofrequency group(χ2=2.366,P>0.05).2.Average number of treatments:The average number of treatments in the sclerosis group and the combined group(1.72±0.68,1.26±0.54)was less than that in the radiofrequency group(2.24±0.94,t=2.162,t=2.578,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant;the average number of treatments in the combined group(1.26±0.54)was less than that in the sclerosis group(1.72±0.68,t=4.261,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.3.Adverse reactions:The incidence of adverse reactions in the combined group after treatment(4.35%)was lower than that in the sclerosis group and the radiofrequency group(32.00%,42.85%,χ2=6.013,χ2=9.269,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant;there was no significant difference between the sclerosis group and the radiofrequency group(χ2=0.577,P<0.05).Conclusions:In the treatment of oral and maxillofacial venous malformations,it is feasible to use intratumoral radiofrequency ablation combined with podocanol foam sclerotherapy.Especially for patients with low-flow venous malformations, after the application of radiofrequency to shrink the tumor, further combined with polidocanol injection treatment can enhance the therapeutic effect, effectively reduce the number of diagnosis and treatment and injection dose, and reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
