Objective To compare the differences in neonatal outcomes between twin pr egnancies assisted reproductive technology(ART)and spontaneously conceived.Exp ore whether assisted reproductive technology increases twin neonatal adverse risk. Methods This was a retrospective analyze to compare the clinical data of 784 twins whose deliveries gestational age is greater than 28 weeks occurred at Renmin Hospital affiliated Hubei University of Medicine between January 2018 and December2021.They were divided into ART group and spontaneously conceived(control group)according to the mode of conception. The two groups were compared in terms of the maternal general information, the pregnancy complications and neonatal general information, diseases and outcomes.Results1.There were no significant differences in age,the proportion of elderly primiparas, cesarean section and educational attainment between the ART group and the control group(P>0.05).2.Maternal rates of hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy and anemia in pregnancy were significantly higher in the ART groups compared with those of the control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the rate of prenatal complications between the ART group and the control group(P>0.05).3.The gestational age at delivery in ART groups was less than that of control groups(P<0.05).The rate of preterm birth in ART groups was higher than that of control groups(P<0.05).4.Compared with control group, neonatal intensive care unit admission in infancy are more common in those born following ART(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the rate of neonatal complications and the support of respiratory between the ART group and the control group(P>0.05).5.The rates of hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy and anemia in pregnancy were significantly higher in the preterm ART groups compared with those of the control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the rate of prenatal complications between the ART infants born prematurely group and the control group(P>0.05).6.There were no differences in gestational age, birthweight and the rate of support of respiratory between preterm ART groups and control groups(P>0.05).Conclusion1.ART increases the risk of twins preterm delivery and hospital admission. It do not increase any risk of complications of twin neonates. In view of the high risk of preterm, the infants should be paid close attention during perinatal care and management.2.ART increases the risk of anemia in pregnancy and hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy. The mothers who were at risk of premature delivery should be paid more attention to these diseases.Strengthening the management of high risk pregnant women to reduce the risk of complication.3.For ART twins,it is necessary to assess the risk of maternity, fetal and neonate.New ART technologies are constantly introduced, the infants should be paid close attention during perinatal care and management to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes.
