| Chu Xin of Yixing is a very important writer and critic of classics in the early Qing Dynasty.His compilation of the "Complete Works of Tang and Song Top Ten record," "the Tang and Song triage" and other classical anthology was very popular in the Qing Dynasty,and had a significant impact on later anthologies.This thesis studies Chuxin and his works from four aspects:Compilation of Chu Xin Chronicle by searching the "Genealogy of the Family Chu of Fengyi," "Book of the Gentleman in Lu," and the situation of Chu’s family,with a particular focus on the correction of mistakes of his style name as well as his birth and death time that exist in the academic discourses;Examination of Chu’ s social life by integrating relevant information from "the Collected Works of Zailu House" together with his friend’s articles,poems,ci and other work;Comprehensive evaluation of Chu’ s criticism by surveying one criticism from each of the four categories of the Confucian classics("Songs"),history("Mandarin"),philosophy("little discipline of Haiyang"),and literature("Works by Han Yu");Discussion of Chu’s thoughts in anthology compilation by studying his three most important anthologies and the internal relations between the selected works. |
