| The attentional scope model of rumination postulates that a narrow attentional scope, caused by negative mood, increases the likelihood that thoughts become repetitive. In turn this ruminative focus could exacerbate negative mood leading to attentional narrowing and more repetitive thoughts, turning it into a vicious cycle. This study attempts to explore the influence of rumination,problem-solving thinking to attentional scope by two expriments. This study use adolescents as subjects, following the rumination and problem-solving induction mission,to explore the influence of rumination to attentional scope through two behavioral experiments: the first experiment uses Eriksen flanker task to study adolescents’ changes of attentional scope under different ways of thinking. The second experiment uses the Navon letters task to study the influence of adolescents’ different ways of thinking to attentional scope. The results show that,in Eriksen flanker task, individuals’ reaction time is shorter under ruminant thinking, reveal a narrowed attentional focus tendency;under the problem-solving thinking state, individuals’ reaction time is longer, reveal a broadened attentional focus tendency. The same,in Navon letter task, under ruminant thinking state, the individual responses faster than the problem-solving thinking state, revealed a narrowed attentional focus tendency. But under the problem-solving thinking state, reveal a broadened attentional focus tendency. |
