In recent years,English reading teaching,bearing the responsibility of cultivating students’ sense of English,and aimed at training students’ thinking and expressing ability,has played an important role in English teaching in senior high schools.However,there still exist some problems in reading teaching.Some teachers teach English reading in the same way as they do grammar and vocabulary teaching.Therefore,this research tries to apply Scaffolding Instruction Teaching Mode to the senior high schools’reading teaching.The teaching mode,which is supposed to stimulate students’ interest in reading and improve their learning skills,is based on students’ Zone of Proximal Development(ZPD).This thesis is based on the concept of Constructivism.The author conducts the research in Grade Two of Yushan No.2 Middle School.By means of questionnaires,experiments,interviews and observations,the author intends to make a research on the feasibility of applying Scaffolding Instruction Teaching Mode to senior high reading teaching.The results of a one-term experiment show that the choice of scaffoldings in English reading teaching is definitely restricted by inner and outer factors and that the application of Scaffolding Instruction Teaching Mode can improve students’reading marks,and effectively narrow down their gaps in reading marks.Moreover,this thesis tries to set up the evaluation system of Scaffolding Instruction Teaching Mode from different perspectives.
