A Study On The Commonly Used Polyphonic Chinese Characters Frequent Pronunciations In Classics Annotation And Related Issues

Classics Annotation is a monograph composed by Lu Deming of Tang dynasty.This monograph choose Chinese characters of Zhouyi etc.for translation.The purpose is to standardize pronunciation and interpretation.Therefore,the commonly used polyphonic Chinese character’s frequent pronunciations are very important.In order to reduce the number of words,the commonly used polyphonic Chinese character’s frequent pronunciations not often be phonetic notation.But,there are many examples of the commonly used polyphonic Chinese character’s that be noted by Ruzi.There must be a reason for this kind of note.Classics Annotation has been modified several times in the process,making the phonetic situation very complicated.Through the study of representative commonly used polyphonic Chinese characters(bad/do/say/go/out/see/king/from/lon g/neat),We summarized their phonetic notation respectively,and investigated the rules of the injection sounds in each subsection,then restored the original sound as much as possible.The thesis is divided into three chapters.There to four characters are discussed in each chapter.For every Chinese character,we figure out the matching of pronunciation and meaning.Then investigate the reason why commonly used polyphonic Chinese character are noted by Ruzi.Finally summarize the characters of phonetic rules.By analysis we can see,Cla.ssics Annotation note the commonly used polyphonic Chinese character’s frequent pronunciations by Ruzi when misreading is possible.Some characters have wrong phonetic notation.This is the evidence that the Classics Annotation has been modified.Specifically to say that Maoshi and Zuozhuan’s phonetic is the most complicated.Some characters’ pronunciation is contradictory.This is because there are more than one modifier.Classics Annotation rarely use new Fanqie,so all new Fanqie are the result of modification.After analysis,the pronunciation of the ten commonly used polyphonic Chinese character has been basically clarified.
