Research On The Format Of "X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu" In Modern Chinese

The modern Chinese format " X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu" is used more and more frequently in daily life,especially in the network environment and TV programs as titles or slogans.This format is numerous and generous,and forming a confrontation in form,contrasting in expression.It also emphasizes the pioneering role of something,therefore demonstrates the vividness and richness of language.However,although the format is widely used in daily life,there’s no direct research by the predecessors.By organizing a large number of language materials,and with the knowledge of cognitive linguistics and construction grammar,this paper deeply analyzes " X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu" format on the base of comprehensive description of syntax,semantics and pragmatics.The whole text covers six parts:The first chapter is the introduction.It mainly discusses the reasons why to select this topic and the value of the research,and explains the research object.It also introduces the research background and research methods.The second chapter describes the " X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu"format’s form of grammar.In this part,we detailedly investigate the nature and characteristics of each component,therefor we find the component that is able to enter the format are mostly two-syllable words or four-syllable words;the vocabulary which is able to enter the format is also very rich,including nouns,adjectives,verbs and their phrases.The third chapter analyzes the semantics of the " X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu" format.It mainly sorts out the structural relationship between the constituent components in the format and the meaning of the fonnat itself.And there are mainly opposite,similar and synonymous relationships between X and Y;while the relationships between "X Yi Xiao Bu" and“Y Yi Da Bu" are causality,juxtaposition and turning.The fourth chapter analyzes various functions of " X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu" format.As far as the syntactic functions are concerned,it can act as a sentence or as a clause in a compound sentence,and it can serve as different syntax ingredients,too.And its pragmatic functions are subjectivity evaluation,marking emphasis or focus,textual function and multiple rhetorical functions.The fifth chapter investigates the formative causation and formation mechanism of the "X Yi Xiao Bu,Y Yi Da Bu" format.The formation motivation is mainly considered from two aspects,internal and external,including pragmatic motivation and social motivation.It was found that the format was formed and used in large quantities mainly due to economic principles and sociocultural and psychological factors.The sixth chapter is the conclusion.It summarizes the main content of the full text,and put forward it’s deficiencies and suggestions concerning the further study.
