Research On The Mechanism Of Filial Behavior

Filial culture is the core and basic content of Chinese traditional culture,filial piety is always praised by people.As a cultural phenomenon with Chinese characteristics,filial piety has a far-reaching impact on our psychology and behavior,and therefore it has become the focus of local psychological researchers.Although there were plenty of investigation results on filial piety,the mechanism of filial behavior was still lack of in-depth discussion.Therefore,this research combined the method of questionnaire surveys and experimental researches,taking adult children and college students as survey objects,to explore the influence of parents’ filial behavior on children’s filial behavior and its mechanism.At the same time,it extended to the social level to investigate the influence of the propaganda and education of filial piety on the inheritance of filial piety.Five studies were conducted:In the first study,the relationship between the perceived filial behavior of parents and adult children’s filial concept and behavior were investigated.It was found that perceived parental filial behavior was significantly positively correlated with adult children’s filial concept and filial behavior,and adult children’s filial concept played a partial mediating role at the impact on perceived filial behavior of parents to adult children’s filial behavior.On the basis of study 1,the second study taked college students as subjects to further explore the causal relationship between perceived parental filial behavior and children’s filial behavior.The result showed that perceived parental filial behavior significantly positively affected children’s filial behavior.The higher level of perceived parental filial behavior,the more willing the children are to provide filial behavior for their parents in the future.The third study explored the mediating effect of filial concept at the impact on perceived filial behavior of parents to adult children’s filial behavior,in order to explore the mechanism of filial behavior transmission between parents and children.The result showed that perceived parental filial behavior significantly positively affected children’s reciprocal filial piety and authoritative filial piety,and both of them played the partial mediating roles in filial behavior transmission.The first three studies focused on the transmission of filial piety between parents and children in the family.On this basis,the latter two studies explored the transmission mechanism of filial piety at the social level.The results showed that the subjects who watched the filial ads were significantly more likely to offer filial piety practice to their parents in the future than those who watched the neutral ads.Participants who read textual material on filial piety were also more likely to provide parents with practice of filial piety in the future than those who read the neutral textual material.This research examined the role of parents in the formation of children’s filial piety,and the mediating role of children’s filial piety concept,and explored the influence of filial piety propaganda and education on the inheritance of filial piety.Providing guidance for families,schools,communities and the whole society to carry out filial piety education and intervention to help build a harmonious family and a harmonious society.
