Passivity is a universal grammatical phenomenon of the languages in the word.In passive sentences, the subject is the receiver of an action.A predicate, which is one of the elements of a sentence,is used to state how or what the subject is.Each language has its own unique form of passive meaning, and Korean and Chinese are no exception.Korean and Chinese belong to different language types, the expression forms of passive meaning in these two languages are also different, but the predicate is indispensable as the most important of various sentence elements. Therefore, this paper will put the the predicate of Korean and Chinese passive sentences as the research object, under the guidance of contrastive linguistics theory, with the help of corpus database, the predicate features of Korean and Chinese passive sentences are compared and analyzed from morphology, meaning and syntax three parts,in order to explore the common points and differences of predicate components of Korean and Chinese passive sentences. This thesis is divided into four parts and the first chapter is the introduction of this thesis, which mainly includes the purpose of the research, the current situation of the research on the passive sentence and the predicate of the academic circles of Korea and China, and the research methods and scope of the research. The second chapter will discuss the definition and classification of Korean and Chinese passive sentences. The Korean passive sentence can be divided into‘-(?)’passive sentence,‘(?)’passive sentence and‘(?)’passive sentence.Meanwhile, the passive sentences of Chinese can be classified into the marked passive sentences and unmarked passive sentence, the marked passive sentence in Chinese can be divided into‘被’passive sentence and‘遭受’passive sentence. In order to compare with Korean, this paper will focus on the marked passive sentences of Chinese.Based on this, the predicate of Korean and Chinese passive sentence are analyzed from three parts:meaning, morphology and syntax. In meaning aspect, whether the predicate is an action or a kind of consequence and whether has a positive meaning or negative meaning or neutral meanings will be analysed. In form aspect,it will contains whether the predicate can be used alone and so on.And in syntax aspect,it will focus on whether the predicate can be combined with an object or complement etc.The third chapter will analyze and contrast the Korean‘(?)’passive sentence and the Chinese‘被’passive sentence, the Korean‘(?)’passive sentence and the Chinese‘遭受’passive sentence, the Korean‘-(?)’passive sentence and the Chinese passive sentence respectively,so as to find out the similarities and differences of the predicate. The fourth chapter as the conclusion, will sum the above contents up and point out the deficiency of the paper and the direction of future efforts.Based on the data of the corpus, this paper revealed the similarities and differences of the Korean and Chinese passive sentences’ s predicate in terms of morphology, meaning and syntax in order to provide some references for Korean and Chinese learners when they learn the predicate of passive sentences.Meanwhile, due to the personal ability’ s inadequatial, the analyzing of the syntax features of the passive sentence’s predicate is not enough, more extensive research will be done in the future.
