Secondary vocational education has always been the focus of domestic scholars,occupying a high position in China’s vocational education.It plays a positive and key role in cultivating applied talents with junior and intermediate skills.Meanwhile,business English major is a major integrating language and business with strong characteristics of professionalism and practicality.Strengthening the practical training for students who major in business English in secondary vocational schools is crucial to improve their practical ability.Therefore,the building of scientific and rational school practical training system plays a basic and key role in the cultivation of high-quality talents.In the thesis,Business English major in secondary vocational schools is set for an example,using the research methods of literature,questionnaire,and interview,and based on the constructivist learning theory,Dewey’s theory of learning from doing and Multi-mode learning theory to completely investigate Business English major in secondary vocational school in four dimensions,including practical training objective system,practical training content system,practical training guarantee system and practical training evaluation system.Then,descriptive analysis of data is carried out with SPSS,from which various problems existed in the school practical training system of business English major in secondary vocational schools were found.For example,the goal setting of professional training is not clear,the effect of students’ practice training is poor and they can’t reach the target of practice training,the practicality of curriculum setting is weak,the practical training mode is backward,the practical teaching method is single,the arrangement of practical training materials is unreasonable,the construction of practical training rooms and teachers are outdated and practical training assessment system is unscientific.The reasons are mainly reflected from three aspects: schools,teachers and students.Firstly,schools do not have enough publicity to the practical training goal,lacking the emphasis on practical training teaching,the update of practical teaching content lags behind,the courses are not in conformity with the talent training plan and funds for training are insufficient.Secondly,teachers’ teaching experience and methods need to be improved,theirworkload is too heavy,the enthusiasm of participating in practical activities is not high,their subjective awareness of practical teaching is not strong and the guidance of practical training is insufficient.Lastly,students’ foundation is weak and their knowledge level is uneven,the professional approval degree is insufficient,the occupation consciousness is not strong and so on.Based on the research results,this thesis proposes the strategies for building the practical training system of business English major in secondary vocational schools from four angles--objective,content,guarantee and evaluation.The strategies include the construction of a practical training objective system based on employment orientation,a four-in-one practical training content system based on the practicality of curriculum setting,the flexibility of teaching methods,the diversity of practical training modes and the practicability of teaching materials,a dual-parallel practical training guarantee system and a scientific and diversified evaluation system.
