With the rapid development of Chinese economy and tourism industry,more and more Chinese citizens choose to travel overseas.Statistics show that Australia has become one of the most popular tourist destinations among the Chinese.The number of tourists to Australia keeps increasing year by year.However,there is little research on tourism texts about Australia.Tourism industry standard is the essential condition for tourism to enhance its rapid development and to "go out" to participate in the international competition.Time Out is a series of magazines published by Time Out Digital Ltd.created in 1968,the London-based publication has expanded its editorial recommendations to 107 cities worldwide.Time Out Sydney is one of this range of travel books.This book was published on March 1st,2011.In 2012,this book became a free publication with a weekly readership of over 20,000.As well as covering visitor essentials,Time Out Sydney keeps abreast of what’s hot in Australia’s coolest city,from beach chic lodgings to the fine art of barbecue.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,this report aims to analyze the translation strategies of tourism texts,which consists of four chapters.Chapter One describes the research background and the significance of the text,content of the source text and features of the source text.Chapter Two introduces the preparation for translation,tools of translation and quality control.Chapter Three analyzes the cases of source text at lexical,syntactic and discourse levels.Chapter Four summarizes the translation experience and points out the unsolved problems.In the process of translating the travel guide about Sydney,the author adopts literal translation for most parts,and free translation is also used when literal translation does not work adequately.The author attempts to provide a comprehensive introduction to the Chinese and help them know more about Sydney and have nice trips.
