| The brain declines with age.Many senior citizens often experience memory loss or amnesia,leading them to worry about developing Alzheimer’s disease.However,research shows that we can lower our brain’s age and maintain health by adjusting our eating habits and making certain lifestyle choices.The source text is Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 of the popular science book Genius Food:Become Smarter,Happier,and More Productive,While Protecting your Brain for Life.It explores how to prevent Alzheimer’s disease by improving cognition function and memory through sleep,diet and exercise.Currently,domestic translation studies on popular science texts of such kinds are few.Therefore,this translation report does carry certain academic and practical value.Under the guidance of functional equivalence,this report focuses on the translation strategies of popular science texts.It is mainly composed of four chapters:Chapter 1 describes the translation task,mainly introducing the source of the text,the characteristics of the text and the relevant research background and significance;Chapter 2 is the task process description,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and quality control;Chapter 3 is the case analysis,which is the core of the whole report.Guided by functional equivalence,it discusses the strategies and methods of popular science texts translation from the perspectives of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.Chapter 4 is the summary of translation practice,which summarizes the experience in the process of translation,and points out the unsolved problems of the whole translation task.It is hoped that this report can provide some reference for the research of popular science texts translation in the future. |
