Although hermit culture has always been in a non-mainstream position in traditional Chinese culture,it has always flourished in the history of literature and has a very important influence on Chinese literature. In the vernacular novels of the Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, there are many hidden stories. The novelists express their hidden thoughts and hidden feelings by shaping the image of the hidden characters, the description of the living environment of the hidden characters, and the poetry with hidden colors, which make the novel contain rich hidden elements.culture.There are many hermit images in the vernacular novels of the Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, which are mainly divided into four categories: one is the hermit from hermit to official;the second is the hermit from official to hermit;the third is the hermit for life-long hermit and the fourth is the alternative hermit. Each large-scale seclusion image is divided into several sub-categories according to its original intention, reason or way of concealment. These different types of seclusion images and their seclusion activities made the vernacular novels of the Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty rich in seclusion culture. The hermit culture in the vernacular novels of the Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty had different characteristics:the hermit images in the vernacular novels of the Ming Dynasty were mostly based on historical figures, deeply influenced by Taoist culture, and followed the Taoist concept of indisputability and happy life.He practiced the Taoist lifestyle of purifying the mind,self-cultivation and freedom. However, most of the hermit images in vernacular novels in the early Qing Dynasty have no basis in history, they have more realistic colors, and their secular characteristics are obvious. From the hermit characters and hermit activities in the vernacular novels of the early Qing dynasty,it can be seen that the characteristics of the hermit culture behind are influenced by the Taoist cultural factors, and at the same timethey are more infiltrated by Confucian culture. Moreover, the novel writers of the early Qing Dynasty mostly treated hermit as the character’s perfect ending, turning hermit into a stylized model with a perfect ending. The reason why the vernacular novels of the Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty produced such hermit cultural characteristics was mainly influenced by the social background at that time and the traditional hermit culture since ancient times. In addition,it is also related to the author’s own feelings of seclusion and his life situation. It is the novelists themselves who have a strong feeling of seclusion. When they encounter setbacks or are disappointed with the society at that time, they will inject their feelings of seclusion into their creations.,In order to complete the transcendence of reality with the characters’ hiding and seclusion activities.
