A Report On The Chinese-English Translation Of Simeizi(Excerpt) Under The Guidance Of Literary Stylistics

This paper is a report of the Chinese-English translation.The author of the report was guided by literary stylistics and translated part of Simeizi by Chen Zhongshi.To make the target readers have the same feeling as the source-text readers,the author of the report noticed that translators not only need to translate the meaning of the source text but also the artistic meaning of the source text.Therefore,she analyzed the source text under the guidance of literary stylistics.Then,she started her argument from three layers,namely lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.Combining features of the source text,she made detailed analyses in different layers.At the same time,she explained the reason why translation methods such as literal translation and the free translation should be applied.Through the above approaches,the author of the report found that literal stylistics was effective in guiding the translation of folk literature.This perspective will give more translators enlightenment.
