| Roland Barthes(1915-1980)is one of the key figures of the modern theory of the literature and culture.A Lover’s Discourse are seen as the most popular and widely read text of Roland Barthes’ s works, which is a symbol of his transformation from critic to writer. However, readers’ superficial reading of A Lover’s Discourse conceals the connotation of deconstruction. Therefore, this paper takes A Lover’s Discourse of Roland Barthes as the research object and uses the means of close reading, deconstruction and narratology to analyze the writing style and textual connotation of this work by centering on the two keywords("subversion" and "deconstruction"),and probes into the significance and limitations of this writing method.Specifically, this paper can be divided into four chapters:In the first chapter, the author summarizes the writing background and basic structure of A Lover’s Discourse. In the first quarter, the author explores the background of this book.Firstly, the foundation of the times and theory for A Lover’s Discourse is that French politics, economy and culture in the middle and later period of the 20 th century,as well as Roland Barthes’ s zero degree writing theory, structuralism and semiotics theory, deconstruction text and reading theory formed in this context.Secondly,Roland Barthes’ experience and character, the trigger of writing desire and consideration of readers’ situation, and other factors give birth to this book.In the second section, the author takes some of the key contents of the book as an example to show the orderly structure of the work.In the second chapter, the author analyzes the subversion of the external writing style.Roland Barthes has subverted the previous writing conventions from three aspects: to subvert the unified and typical character image with the help of constructing the marginal subject image with both madness and rationality;to delay the single and fixed signified with the help of speech skills such as zero degree discourse and ambiguity paradox;to subvert the complete and orderly plots with fragment situation and lexicographic sequence. All of these are the subversive writing style of A Lover’s Discourse. In the third chapter, the author reveals the deconstruction of the inner meaning of the text.First of all, through the game of signifier,A Lover’s Discourse deconstructs the established meaning of "language symbol","work" and "text" in the traditional writing concept.Secondly, through "intertextual text" and "zero degree narrative",the book dispels the author’s centralconcept, advocates deconstructive reading by rebelling against structural reading and regarding the text as "writable text".In the end,A Lover’s Discourse reveals the shelter and oppression of capitalist ideology and expresses the deconstruction and criticism of bourgeois culture. In the forth chapter, the author explores the significance and limitations of the writing method of lover’s words. In the first section, the author clarifies the unity of opposites between the external "subversive writing style" and the internal "deconstructive text connotation",and expounds the positive significance of using "subversive writing style" to carry out the "deconstructive text connotation" writing method: it not only demonstrates Roland Barthes’ s subversive character, but also implements the subversive negation and deep skeptical observation he has always been adhering to.At the same time, the theory supports the development of Chinese avant-garde novels in the 1980 s and 1990 s.In the second section, the author describes the limitations of this method in resisting the oppression of capitalist ideology. In a word,as a text practice of Roland Barthes’ theory,A Lover’s Discourse is worthy of in-depth analysis in both writing style and text connotation. At the same time, when absorbing and using this thinking and writing method,we should also pay attention to its significance and limitations.Only in this way can we use it more effectively. |
