Effects Of Automatic Emotion Regulation On Negative Emotion And Behavioral Inhibition In Conflict Situations

Negative emotions can lead to adverse consequences,anger is one of the important causes of conflict.In recent years,various conflicts have occurred frequently and caused adverse consequences,among which the consequences of Chongqing bus crash on December 28,2018 are particularly serious.The incident was caused by clashes between passengers and drivers,and both sides acted wrongly under the control of anger.It can be seen that negative emotion is not only the inducement of social conflict,but also it will have a great impact on the behavior in social conflict,that is,it gradually strengthens and overcomes self-restraint,thus triggering violent escalation behavior,continuing and causing serious behavioral consequences.This shows that the negative emotion in the critical state is not only related to the current negative event,but also will continue to affect the development of the conflict after the conflict occurs when the conflict spiral continues.A large number of facts have proved that the enhancement of the negative emotion often leads to more serious behavioral results.The effective regulation of negative emotion can realize behavior inhibition and avoid conflict behavior caused by negative emotion.With the in-depth study of emotion regulation,emotion regulation is divided into intentional emotion regulation and automatic emotion regulation.,Some studies have pointed out that intentional emotional regulation consumes cognitive resources,and more importantly,The lack of cognitive resources is the core reason for the failure of emotional regulation.Therefore,on the basis of previous research,this paper intends to explore the effects of automated cognitive re-evaluation and automatic expression suppression on the anger emotion and the role of behavioral suppression control and their neurophysiological mechanisms in conflict situations,in order to ease passenger-driver conflict provide theoretical guidance.In this study,three experiments were carried out.The pre-experiment was used to evaluate the conflict pictures between passengers and drivers.In Experiment 1,different methods of emotion regulation were used to study the effect of anger regulation of passengers and drivers by assessing the task of emotional images.On the basis of experiment 1,experiment 2 explored the moderating effect of different emotional regulation strategies adopted by members of the passenger group and the driver group on the anger induced by the conflict pictures of passengers and drivers and its influence on the behavioral inhibition control by using the dual-choice Oddball experimental paradigm,which was based on the advantages of ERP technology with high temporal resolution.Through the analysis and discussion of experimental data and results,we draw the following conclusions:The group members who used different emotion regulation strategies had lower level of anger emotion,which is more effective regulation of anger emotion in the conflict of passenger and driver.The skin electricity of the group members who used different emotion regulation strategies was lower than that of who is the control group in the conflict of passenger and driver.The heart rate of group members who used different emotion regulation strategies was lower than that of group members who is the control group in the conflict of passenger and driver.The group members who used emotional regulation showed higher emotional regulation ability and shorter response time to biased stimuli than the control group in the conflict of passenger and driver.Compared with the control group,the N2 and P3 components in the bias-standard difference wave of behavioral inhibition control processing of group members using emotional regulation strategies were significant.
