Characteristics Of Youth Implicit Cultural Identity Status And Its Relationship With Explicit Cultural Identity

Cultural identity is a complex psychological phenomenon,which is the affirmation and trust of cultural values by cultural subjects.Young people in the new era are the inheritors of culture and the practitioners of the Chinese dream.Therefore,the study of youth cultural identity is a topic of great practical significance,which is of great significance to the formation of youth ideological morality and the molding of values.It is conducive to enhancing youth cultural confidence,safeguarding national cultural security and improving cultural soft power.The specific problem of this study is to develop and establish an effective implicit cultural identity assessment tool,on the basis of which the current status of implicit cultural identity of Chinese youth is initially explored.Then,the relationship between implicit cultural identity and explicit cultural identity of youth is discussed through two measurement methods,implicit and explicit.In this study,cultural identity is designed into three aspects: Chinese excellent traditional culture,revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture.Based on the Dual Attitudes theory,the current status of youth implicit cultural identity is studied with the help of IAT.The experimental materials of implicit traditional cultural identity were obtained through Study 1.In Study 2,the SC-IAT was added to discuss youth revolutionary cultural identity and advanced socialist cultural identity,and to test youth cultural identity on the implicit level.And design a questionnaire in order to detect the youth explicit cultural identity.Through the above research,the following conclusions were obtained: First,on the whole,the young people have a high level of implicit cultural identity,which is reflected in their medium level of implicit Chinese excellent traditional cultural identity,and their positive implicit attitude towards revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture.Second,the implicit cultural identity of the youth is consistent with the explicit cultural identity,and the two are significantly positively correlated,which is embodied in the Chinese excellent traditional culture identity and the advanced socialist culture identity.Third,both implicit test and explicit measurement have their own value.Both can support the cultural identity of different groups: in terms of academic qualifications,the critical thinking of youth does affect cultural identity in implicit cultural identity.Moreover,young people with low academic qualifications are not good at their inner feelings towards culture.In terms of Internationalization,the international will deconstruct the youth ’s explicit identity,but it does not weaken the youth ’s implicit cultural identity.In other words,internationalization can not only promote the youth to accept foreign culture,but also help them better identify with their own culture.
