Research On The Impact Of Drama Performance On The Elderly Mental Needs Satisfaction

The society is constantly progressing.People’s longing for a better life is not limited to the simple material needs of eating,drinking and warming.The spiritual needs are more and more concerned by people.Of course,the same is true of the mental needs of the elderly.The summer internship of the author and participation in the "Drama Life" project during the summer vacation,the project aims to enable the elderly to share their own stories,use the form of drama performances to realize the elderly’s review and combing of their life,understand and respect other people’s lives,and re-understand life,expand our thinking about life.The development of the activity has had a certain impact on the spiritual needs of the elderly.By participating in the activities,the author felt that the spiritual needs of the elderly are mainly in five aspects: emotional communication,understanding and respect,interpersonal communication,cultural education,and self-realization.Taking the "drama life" project of the Q institution as a carrier,the influence of the project’s activity form-"drama performance" on the satisfaction of the elderly’s spiritual needs was studied.With the help of a questionnaire survey,the author found that the elderly participating in the show had demographic sociological characteristics such as generally higher education,better welfare after retirement,relatively rich material life,and general health.Use participatory observation and in-depth interview methods to understand the fulfillment of the elderly’s spiritual needs in the five stages of dramatic games,situational performances,role plays,performance climaxes,and dramatic rituals,and analyze the influence and change of mental state of each stage on the elderly’s participation in the performances.Finally,it summarizes the effectiveness of drama performance to meet the spiritual needs of the elderly.It is concluded that theatrical performance can make the old people understand and respect,and can meet their needs for self-realization,interpersonal communication and cultural education,but their emotional and spiritual communication needs still need to be continuously satisfied.Through research,the author also found that the project’s form of activities is significantly different from previous ways of satisfying the elderly’s spiritual needs,and has characteristics such as strong self-expression,strong initiative and creativity,and emotional healing,which have certain reference significance for organizing elderly activities.In order to better meet the spiritual needs of the elderly,combined with this study,the author believes that it can be done from the three aspects of individuals,families and society: personally give play to the elderly’s own advantages and reflect the value of the elderly in activities;family emphasizes child filial and husband and wife awareness,to better meet the emotional exchanges of the elderly;social aspects call on everyone to pay attention to the spiritual needs of the elderly,so that each elderly can have a happy old age.
