Iris Murdoch was a famous English writer and philosopher in the twentieth Century.She devoted all her life to the creation of the novel.She wrote 26 novels,as well as philosophical works and plays.These novels and philosophical works reflect Iris Murdoch’s extraordinary creative ability and outstanding talent,which has been widely criticized by critics.Although Iris Murdoch is a female writer,but she was not confined to the status of women,work is not confined to the female perspective and immersed private identity and female writing,but focus on the moral problem is closely related to all mankind.Iris Murdoch’s works have a huge character,she is very good at the strong literary narrative and serious philosophy together."The Unicorn" is Iris Murdoch’s first novel,also a novel with profound philosophical implications.This novel is full of the rich Gothic style,Iris Murdoch is creating complicated plot.With the development of the ups and downs of the story,the author has her own thoughts on the loss of people’s spiritual home after World War II,put forward the use of "good" moral point of view to save the human.The first chapter elaborates Iris Murdoch’s idea of "good" and "evil",and "good" mainly comes from Platon."The Unicorn" has been hailed as the most favorite works of Iris Murdoch,this work is a blend of Iris Murdoch’s understanding of "good" and how to achieve the "good".The story of The unicorn takes place under a closed space,which is a chain of evil.To break the chain of evil,the evil man eventually died and there is a man of evil terminator.The second chapter is the analysis of the characters in "The Unicorn".Iris Murdoch’s characters can be divided into two categories: flat and round characters.Iris Murdoch shaped the two flat characters,Marcks,the characters of the single character,the character is also very bright.With the help of these two characters,Iris Murdochshows her philosophical views on "good".A good work,shaping the round character is also very important,Iris Murdoch portrays Hanna,Gerald and other characters in the text.they are complex characters,different aspects of personality have display,each time they play character will not same,to bring the reader is continuous freshness.The third chapter analyzes the narrative strategies of Iris Murdoch’s The Unicorn is full of the perspective of narrative,symbolic image,Gothic features of the three aspects of analysis and interpretation.The Unicorn has its own unique narrative perspective.There are a lot of symbolic images in the works.The Unicorn is a novel with the Gothic coat,explains the author’s own "good" philosophy.
