A Preliminary Study Of Shaanxi Female Image Evolution In The Late Qing Dynasty And The Republic Of China

The late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China was an important stage for the Chinese society to inherit the past and usher in the future,and this period was also a period of vigorous development of the Chinese women ’s movement.A large number of women gradually began to enter schools,participate in social work,and devote themselves to the revolution.The tremendous changes in women’s images and the changes in women’s social status and ideology are mutually apparent.Shaanxi Province has special geographical environment and complicated political situation,and female images have their particularity and diversity,so it is necessary and significant for its research.In the late Qing Dynasty,the traditional females of Manchu and Han were different.Manchu women combed Qitou,wore Qizhuang and Qixie,did not bind feet.The Han women’s ethics and education are very tightly bound,their eyebrows are low,their eyes are soft and obedient.They Combed low bun,wore Aoqun and bound their feet.After entering the 20 th century,the family of gentry,bourgeoisie,and intellectual women took the lead in learning Western-style dress and Western culture,seeking basic rights and social status,and the female image entered a transition period between old and new.Since the 1930 s,more and more people have put on their feet.Simple and convenient short perm,Western-style women’s dresses and new-style cheongsam first prevailed among female representatives and intellectual women.Then the Chinese-Western-style cheongsam spread to ordinary people.Aoqun and Mindangku are also becoming tighter,showing arms and lower legs,and Shaanxi women have diverse images.Shaanxi women’s images have four characteristics: one is the characteristics of the times,the Chinese and the Western culture are mixed,the old and the new are intertwined,the body is thin,care country and nation.The second is the regional characteristics,Shanbei,Guanzhong and Shannan all have their own characteristics.The third is economic characteristics,the change is slow,the clothing is worn out,simple and straightforward.The fourth is the national characteristics,the Manchu,Han and Hui differences are significant,and they influence and merge with each other.In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,the evolutionary trend was from autocracy to democracy,from closed to open,from conservative to innovative,from single to multiple.
