The Identity Consciousness In Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles,fahrenheit 451

Ray Bradbury(1920-2012)is a famous American science fiction writer in the20 th century.Unlike other science fiction writers,he is used to substituting his thinking on identity issues into the novel for plot construction,which also makes almost all his creations have more or less a sense of seeking "identity ",which is just the research significance of this paper.This paper takes the identity consciousness in Ray Bradbury’s novel The Martian Chronicles,Fahrenheit 451 as the theme of the thesis,analyzes Ray Bradbury’s works by referring to the research on identity in the western sociological theory,interprets the identity consciousness in the novel,and explores the deep meaning of the novel.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly describes Ray Bradbury’s life and creative experience,collates and analyzes the research situation at home and abroad,at the same time briefly introduces the content of identity theory and the research significance and method of this paper.The second,third and fourth parts form the main body three chapters.The second part mainly introduces the contradictory conflict and pathological expression caused by identity in Bradbury’s novels,and analyzes the influence of identity consciousness on the expressiveness of his works by combining the choice and behavior of characters in the story.The third part starts from the real world and virtual world created in the novel,and interprets Bradbury’s deconstruction of identity dilemma in different contextsfrom two aspects: reality and network.The fourth part mainly focuses on the "fourth wall" experience caused by the emergence of new media,the dilemma of citizens under the cultural barrier,and whether the identity of non-human subjects can be recognized.The fifth part is the conclusion,which focuses on the meaning of identity consciousness in the novel,and focuses on the value that identity bring to the theme and aesthetic characteristics of the novel.The emergence of various identity problems and the synthesis and interaction of various identity consciousness make Ray Bradbury’s novels have unique value in theme and aesthetic sense.Based on the detailed reading of Ray Bradbury’s novels and the relevant identity theory,this paper deepens the understanding of the role of identity consciousness in Ray Bradbury’s novels.
