The Study On "A+V" Disyllabic Verbs

The "A+V" disyllabic verb,which is composed of "adjective morpheme + verb morpheme",belongs to heterogeneous morpheme word formation.This thesis takes 672 "A+V" disyllabic verbs in the Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition)as the research object,adopts the research methods such as quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis,phenomenon description and mechanism interpretation,systematic research and case investigation to investigate and explore these words from four perspectives of structure,semantic,cognitive mechanism and categorization.Firstly,analyse the structure and semantic analysis of "A+V" verbs.According to the structural relationship of morphemes,these words can be divided into two categories of attributive and associative.According to the semantic characteristics of morphemes,the semantics of adjectives are distributed in ten categories: psychological,sensory,measurement,color,appearance,time,degree,direction,evaluation and situation;the semantics of verbs are distributed in five categories: physical actions,daily activities,mental activities,social activities,natural changes.The relationship between morpheme and lexical meaning includes the combination or fusion of morpheme constitutes a verb meaning.Secondly,explain the cognitive mechanism of "A+V" verbs,and sum up their semantic path.There are four kinds of cognitive mechanisms: spreading activation,metaphor,metonymy,conceptual integration.According to the different strategies of construal,The semantic construal path can be divided into four categories: direct combination,metaphor construal,metonymy construal,metaphor metonymy alternate construal.Finally,explore the transfer of the functional category of "A+V" verbs.The transfer of "A+V" verbs to noun categories is mainly reflected in both syntactic and semantic aspects.Syntactically,these words can enter into three syntactic slots: with a nominal mark;used as subject or object;modified by "have / haven’t".Semantically,it is converted from assertion to reference;to obtain quantitative features.The re-categorization of "A+V" verbs is mainly achieved through the metonymy mechanism within the action ICM.In addition to this,adapting to the needs of expression;pursuing the effect of expression;the restriction and prominence of syntactic and semantic are also the motivations for the re-categorization of such words.Through the above research,this article discusses the various aspects of "A+V" disyllabic verbs in depth,which is helpful to promote the ontology and application research of compound words.
