An Exploration Of The Artistic Features Of The Painter’s Biographical Documentary

The documentary of painter biography is a kind of documentary which aims to make the biography of painter or tell the story of painter.This paper starts with the relationship between painting and film.Then discusses the isomorphism and heterogeneity between realistic painting and documentary.Although painting and film are two different forms of art,they both belong to the category of plastic art.The history of plastic art is the history of the pursuit of likeness,or the history of realism,and the film is the most significant manifestation of plastic art in the process of the evolution of realism.From the initial use of film techniques to deal with the painting of the documentary really began to appear,and then the painting began to participate in the film narrative.Finally,Henry George cruzzo’s "the secret of Picasso" changed the way people thought about painting,The second revolution was completed.Since then,the painting documentary has developed into a subgenre with three main purposes: to make a biography of the painter or tell the story of the painter,to shoot a poetic film and to update the criticism of painting.Finally,taking the BBC documentary "Simon Schamas Power of Art " as an example,the audio-visual language features and narrative strategies of the film are studied and discussed.Firstly,starting from the important parts of the image language structure: the picture language,the lens language and the auditory language,this paper analyzes the "paint-based" composition,the true and unreal color design and the construction of artistic conception in the picture language;The choice of scene and motion lens,the design of mental montage and metaphorical montage and the modeling elements of the image in the mirror;In auditory language,the commentary guides the audience’s cognition,the simultaneous sound enriches the picture level and the music participates in the narrative lyric;Comprehensive analysis of its unique image performance and poetic aesthetic conception.Finally,with the help of the classical theory of structuralist narratology,From the perspectives of narrative theme,narrator,narrative person and narrative point of view,the deep structure of narrative,suspense and conflict,the dramatic narrative strategy is analyzed.
