| Writing has always been regarded as an important test item in College Entrance Examination,but the traditional teaching writing mode is often time-consuming and ineffective.Therefore,how to improve students’ writing quality and proficiency is a problem that perplexes teachers and students for a long period.Ellis(2002)put forward that "frequency is one of the decisive factors in language acquisition.Frequency effect has a positive effect on language acquisition." The frequency in this thesis refers to the task frequency.That is,the individual’s experience with language projects and emphasizing the number of times of repetitions and practice of writing materials.Frequency effect means the more times a certain thing is in contact,the easier it is to be strengthened.It emphasizing the effect of tasks frequency on the high school students’ English writing process and result.This is based on the fact that writing is the output process of language acquisition and the improvement of writing level should practice constantly.In this study,60 sophomores from a senior high school in Jiangxi Province are taken as the research object.By means of tests,comparative experiments,interviews and data collection,SPSS 25.0 software is used to analyze the frequency effect on the English writing of 30 high-level and 30 low-level students.Through practical teaching,the author mainly solves the four problems.First,what is the influence of frequency effect on writing fluency of senior high school students? Second,what is the influence of the frequency effect on writing accuracy of senior high school students? Third,what is the influence of frequency effect on the overall writing quality of high and low-level students? Finally,what’s the influence of frequency effect on learners’ writing confidence? The researcher applied Wolfe Quintero et al.(1998)to the research on the evaluation of writing fluency and accuracy.Among them,the index of fluency is the total number of words in a given period of time,the index of accuracy is the number of wrong words in every hundred words.The writing quality is judged by the score based on the scoring standard of College Entrance Examination composition.Students write the composition on Monday evening in the first week,third week and fifth week.During the experiment,the high-level group and low-level group conducted three times on the same topic and analyze the compositions’ fluency,accuracy and quality.At the end of writing,all compositions were corrected,and randomly select 10 students from high and low-level groups respectively for interviews.meanwhile,all the students were surveyed by questionnaire and explore the changes of students’ confidence in the process of writing.After the experiment,the following results were obtained:(1)Frequency effect improves students’ writing fluency and students can write more words at the same time.(2)After three times of writing,the number of errors in writing is significantly reduced.That means frequency effect improves students’ writing accuracy.(3)The result shows that frequency effect improves the students’ writing quality as whole.However,there is always a gap between the writing quality of high-level and low-level students.(4)In frequency effect,the overall confidence of the object was improved,but there were also some weak-based students who thought that frequency effect was meaningless.Based on the analysis of most students’ learning strategies and teachers’ teaching of writing,this paper adopts frequency effect to solve the problem that students spend too much on writing as well as get the low scores. |
